Dunning seems kind of stiff to me i think him and steed is a little overrated.
First statement I can agree to small extent. Second one, not at all. Underrated IMO.

Do you think dunning and steed can compete for playing time with with the guys we have and guys like wilder?

Yes and confidently.
Dunning the only pure MLB I have seen us realistically go after or realistically linked with in 2017. Neither of the two are slouches at all. I've explained numerous times why Dunning played a lot of DL this year.
Do I think Wilder is a better prospect than both? Yes, he has speed and size and aggression that you can't just teach a LBer. Does he have the mass yet? No, you have to take all factors into account. Think he still may be a little raw(not a knock cause that's what coaching is for)
There is also the apples to oranges concept I've mentioned. I view the best fits as... Wilder as a SLB, Steed as a WLB, Kearney as a SLB or WLB, Dunning as a MLB.
Can they play other LB positions? Yes, but it's what fits what they do best. Fit plays a huge part.
I mentioned a while back about Shaq as a MLB, McCloud as a SLB and Pinckney as a WLB. Diaz came out in an interview a few weeks back about what he would look to do with them and mentioned those positions. Can they play other LB positions? Yes, but a lot comes down to best fit as well.
Not blaming only you but I feel just a few people have the "shiny new tow" syndrome when it's coming to some prospects and new offers recently. Every 2017 commit we have right now is Miami caliber, the issue was 2016 surplus of questionable takes.
Like Shaqs dad would say. Once you commit, you kind of turn into cold product. People are always looking for the new shiny toy. The thing is I watch a lot of these kids and film even further beyond the 2017 class. I have to try to be fair as possible while rating them. (Even if they do or do not consider Miami)
Geo- Who are your top 4 LB's in this year's class which we have a legitimate shot to land?
That Keary kid is a f*cking beast.. He has Eddie "the Goon" Johnson written all over him..
Love Kearneys game. Steed and Kearney are the two best of the 3 we. Love how athletic and fast Kearney is. (Steed is the best player going off their Soph film, issue is, Steed didn't play as a junior so I can't vouch for him on junior film. Steed the most instinctive and high football IQ of the group).
Dunning is pure thumper, has size, can lay the boom, physical and possesses pass rush ability. Not as stiff as he was while at Dillard (attribute that to STA coaching and S&C.)
Seen one or two people here not like Kearney and I can comfortably attribute that to looking at a ranking on a profile over actually watching his film.
Kearney being disrespected because he's from JAX IMO and not at a big school. I felt it was a crime that Pinckney didn't get his 4th star after his state title game against Booker T. Even more of a crime that Kearney doesn't have a 4th star yet.
At worst the 3 committed are 4* prospects.
Would like to add Wilder. Love his game and how violent he plays, has ton of upside.
I like the Houston kid out of AH as well. Have to see what happens with Dunning first. (I like him but refer to my tweet earlier.)
As for F'agan from Southridge. I like him at SS more especially in Diaz scheme, take Gayot approach and see how he handles weight in college. If his frame can't hold, you move him down to OLB.
Kearney plays at Mandarin High....it's not a small school by any stretch. It's at least a 5A school in south Jax
As popular as Raines is in football? I would venture to say no. Mandarin coach really getting that program right. Best year they had in school history, Kearney was a huge part.
We might have a chance if rumph dosent recruit him
Rumph is the one who offered him.

Geo....you know your stuff now doubt, but you said Mandarin was a small school. I grew up there...and it's not small...and they've made it pretty far into playoffs in he past. I don't know what you mean about popular...or anything...but over the years Mandarin puts out pretty good talent...granted its no STA by any stretch of the imagination. But Kearney plays against good competition.
How heavy is F'agan?

Don't think there's much to the Tyler dunning situation IMO. When richt was interviewed last week for signing day he said he was giving the coaches a week or so off after signing day to spend time with their families and I'm quite sure richt and the staffs main priority over the last couple of weeks were to finish off the 16 class so he needs to be patient. Not recruit the 17 class too hard....
Obvious this staff understands speed more important than size at LB with all these wide open offenses. Houston has good size and speed. Must admit I too not impressed by Dunning and haven't seen enough of Steed. If I had my choices it'll be:
1. Wilder
2. Miler (Kathleen)
3. F'agan
4. Houston/Kearney
5. Steed
5.
