2011 Class

Ridiculous original post because Golden had 6 weeks to put this class together with a new staff in a new area. Its very good for the time he had. Get off Goldens back. As for evaluating guys as Jags, particularly lineman, when they are freshman or sophomores thats idiotic too.

Did you read the first line of the post where I said I don't put any of it on Golden?

what does JAG stand for?

just another guy, i believe...

The funny thing about all of this is that we haven't been good on D for how many years now? The last few good players we've had were dudes that were good from the get go..how many players came in and got better under shannon? Now we are in a situation with minimal experienced talent and somehow we're going to blame the scheme? come on man..

Sooo Pete, if your not putting it on AG then what is the point? Are you saying this was a bad class? I think your wrong there for sure, When a class gives you four solid starters on your defense as sophs I think you did alright. Let alone the fact that there is still a chance that the class will eventually give you a top WR in Scott and another solid return guy and third option in Dorsett, and who knows what happens to Crawford, I think he goes back to safety.

Lets see he also nailed down a VERY good punter, our future kicker and punter, so now we are at what 8 guys not including Gadbois and Paul that could eventually help out after more training/getting healthy. What more do you want a 90%success rate??

Lol at judging a class that are sophomores now

Just wow

This place is Grassy part 2

You guys are missing the point. There are good players in this class, but how many GAME CHANGERS? Of course the class can't be fully evaluated, but you can tell if a kid is going to be great or not by now.

How can we really say Eddie Johnson is a "very fine player" ??? he's surprised and done well in 2 games, but.... he's played 2 games and who else is supposed to make these tackles?

But how many solid contributers? Pretty **** good. I think your just missing the point on what Tano brought up with the '09 and '10 classes.

The thread title is very deceiving, I'll give you that... But still, just because they are "starters" does that mean they are good players?? the majority of these guys would not be starting at top 15 teams right now

When we have had a staff for more than 2-4 years that are making juniors and seniors NFL caliber type players and the freshman and sophomores are waiting/watching/witnessing that transformation instead of a staff of 2 years teaching the freshman, sophomores, juniors and seniors how to play the game ... then we will be back.

Lots of kids in that class making an early impact, especially for a class that was put together in 8 weeks. Way to early to judge. Don't agree with the thread title.

Don't see it in Dorsett either. Not that he's going to be bad or anything I think he'll be and is a nice player but in no way is the gamebreaker ppl originally hoped he would be. I keep waiting to see him make ppl miss but I have yet to see it. If a players has that special skill of being insanely elusive it is something that flashes fairly early in his career. See DAT in oregon or duke in the first two weeks here. I know he hasnt gotten a ton of touches yet, it's still early on but don't see how he can improve that aspect of his game it's sort of a god given talent.

A little unfair putting Pierre in the same category as Rico Williams.

The 2012 class is going to have to be the core. When guys like Duke and Bush are juniors we are going to need to look back at this 2011 class and have to see some seniors that are leading this team.

When we have made it, 3/4 of this class would have redshirted. Working with a TON of youth. Growing pains are a MF. Sit down. Shut up. And hold on!

Dallas Crawford, thus far, has been the biggest disappointment in my mind. From his HS video he seemed to explode to the ball and through pass-catchers. The fact he wasn't able to make it as a S with the lineup we're sporting is a bit surprising. The move to RB has all but sealed his fate to roster purgatory. His ceiling might be ST contributor, not that there's anything wrong with that but a far cry from my expectations when he signed here. Being dough-y hasn't helped the cause.

Speaking of dough-y in the midsection, Rico is unfair to judge at this point. His main mission for the first 24 months on campus was to add weight and he's done that; weather it's good lbs or not is yet to be seen, sometimes initial roid weight can look fatty (see Brian Cushing, and I got my fingers crossed). Rico showed a quick first step and burst off the line, to go with a long frame. I'm curious to see what develops here going into Spring '13. I never saw him as a prospect able to make immediate contribution. Remember, he was being heavily targeted by Butch. We shall see.

Majority of those guys should of received redshirts instead of being thrown in the fire. Kids had to play.

overall people here are too quick to dismiss guys as bust or JAGs. let guys finish up their time here before we talk about how they were waste of scholarships. and considering the DC we got folk shouldn't dismiss defensive players when the scheme is putting guys in a position to fail too often.
