That's enough talent right there to not allow 500 + yards to a VT offense ranked in the 100s with the Coastal on the line at home. And it's **** sure enough talent to not allow 48 points and over 500 yards to Duke after you find out your team was gifted a mulligan.

You all have battered wife syndrome. The excuses and rationalization are terrifying. The expectations have been so lowered because you are all blinded by your Golden addiction. Your friends and family are worried. You need to be sent to a rehab facility in Malibu, tied to a bed, and forced to sit in group therapy with other like-minded people so you can exchange stories about how you stumbled home at 9 am drunk off Pillars of Success on Thanksgiving morning, or how you once sucked a dude's **** in an alley for some Core Values.

Everyone is worried about you guys.

Why does it have to be one side vs the other? Why can't I be supportive of Golden while acknowledging that he isn't perfect?

The results through three years are underwhelming but there's nothing wrong with looking at things from both sides of the spectrum.

FSUs 2010 class isn't overall that great, but a few studs like Telvin Smith, Lamarcus Joyner and Bjoern Werner make up for those misses. Their 2011 class has most of the guys that are making plays for them this year.

The 11 class was on Golden.

Shannon's class with out a doubt. Bridgewater even left before Shannon was fired. zero DTs in 2010 and 2011 outside of Grimble from Vegas who could not cut it at UM. Horrible recruiting by Shannon.,

At least Golden has a top recruiting class this year with some very good DTs. Something we really need.

A offense that goes out in three does not help out the d as well.

U can't say this **** dont suck. Those classes were horrible. U can't fill your class with squad fillers. Golden is a good recruiter no doubt about it. Still talent doesn't guarantee wins. Ron Zook would have Urban Meyers NTs. Its unfathomable how Randy never cleaned up south florida every year. Born there, play there coach there live there. Smh. Head coaching is much more than Xs and Os. But if yall think our defense is magically gonna be top 10 just by having better players and same prevent. ..not gonna happen. They will have to show more aggression and willingness to dictate to other teams

That is very true, and there is no denying there are bigger issues on the defense than purely talent. BUT.... the question I keep asking myself is, are those bigger issues, specifically Donofrio's f*cked up scheme and play calling being DRIVEN by the talent deficiency? If he had the players he needs, would he then be willing to take the bigger risks, be more aggressive, and play the way we want our defense to play? And I do think that it can very well be what is going on. Its a situation that is all interconnected and feeding on itself.

They do not trust the Strong Safety at all. We played a lot of 1 high safety against Duke and they ran for 300+ yards. AJ has 21 tackles and Bush has 20. Contrast that with say Jaiquawn Jarrett (SS) who led Temple in tackles with 74 in 2010.

There is no doubt that there is a lot of that going on.

I also think that's why a lot of us are baffled with golden/ D'Onofrio. The staff's stubbornness to try and run one system, formation, alignment, when we clearly aren't ready/ can't execute it.

They insist on running their plan and have guys doing their job. "it's not about the opponent, it's about the execution". Etc... We don't have the horses for that ala Alabama. We need to adjust to what different teams are doing and they just don't seem to want to do that. They want to run their base defense.

That's what frustrates me more than anything...

so is anyone going to do the avg star ranking over this same period for duke, or v tech, or any of those other ****** defenses that out perform ours?

Al Golden is a garbage head coach simple as that.... he recruits more 2 star players then anybody anyway b/c he swore up and down that his program is so great at developing talent.

He hasnt gotten it done b/c he fell from the Al Groh/ Tim O'Brien coaching tree of failures.

When you lose to a garbage VT team by 18, that says a lot about how terrible you are as a Head Coach.... when you lose to Duke by 18 then it's time to fire golden.

how many times can one HC be out coached by ACC coaches of garbage football teams w/ less talent before Goldoritos gets fired?

When your safety is your leading tackler, that isn't a good thing.

Their "weak" 2010 class still includes senior starters in Joyner, Jones, Brooks, Erving, Abram, Shaw, Smith plus contributors last year in Werner, Harris and McCloud. Joyner, Jones, Erving and Shaw could all be top 2-3 rounds of the NFL draft type of talent. That is still about 1/3 of your 24 starters which is still excellent compared to our 2010 class in terms of quality.

And wow FSU killed us in South Florida in 2011. We lost Greene, Freeman, Benjamin, O'Leary, Hart. The coaching change killed us. That is most of their offensive skill guys. Our SF guys that year that contribute are Dorsett and Perryman. That's it. We have done a good job of keeping them out since then though, save for, Bryant, Thomas and Harris really the last 3 years. Hopefully Cook comes over and Rudolph goes to OSU or Auburn. We are 2 recruiting classes behind FSU, 2010 and 2011.
