Please see Andrew Luck. And he said "thinks". I agree it is clearly in his best interest to leave early, and staying has no real benefit. But Luck is a perfect example of somebody needlessly staying.

In a way, for career safety, its a win-win for Golden.

It is a good idea for him to keep D'onofrio. Now he has a chance to placate the board/fans/Donna by firing him NEXT year after the defense sucks again and save his *** for at least 1 or 2 more seasons after he hires a new D Coordinator. This is the D he wants, he doesnt want to change it.

On the other hand, if our talent carries us to an improved defense he can say he was correct for not firing him.

I've heard that as well from some FSU buddies I know. I believe he isn't eligible for the MLB draft until he completes his junior season if I'm not mistaken. Which could be the reason he stays at least two more seasons

He'll make an absolute fortune at 22 if he plays football.

He is very nicely putting public pressure on Winston to stay past next year. Completely self serving as that is not in Winston's best interest
