#14 on espn

Year ago, I remember some recruiting expert talking about FSU class and saying "It really doesn't matter where the Nole's recruits are rank, because whoever Miami recruits will just beat them anyway." How I long for those days. "Come to Miami or go someplace else and get beat by whoever come to Miami." Frigging Donna. Frigging Foote.

Here is where we are on each site for reference sake...

ESPN - #14 with 11 4 stars and 3.73 avg stars/player
247 - #21 with 9 4 stars and 3.64 avg stars/player
Rivals - #31 with 6 4 stars and 3.36 avg stars/player
Scout - #31 with 7 4 stars and 3.38 avg stars/player

I am hoping...reeaally hoping, that between Kuligoski's coaching, and Diaz' aggressive defense, that DT's will be attracted to Miami again. It's been years since the last no-miss DT.

I think Rivals is generally considered the standard

They have the best track record of predicting future success

is it just me or do we seem to always do better on espn than the other services ? seeing as how our teams have generally underperformed as of late I am not convinced their rankings are very good.

Interesting question. I too have noticed that a lot of kids we land tend to be ranked higher by ESPN than by the other big two (scout and rivals). I would have thought that scout and rivals would have a better florida presence yet it seems that ESPN quite often has Florida kids that are 4 stars on their ranking yet those kids are 3 stars on both scout and rivals. Hmmm???

That's why I prefer CanesInsight over all of them. This is the site where local folks who've seen these kids play come to share their opinions.

Espn gets billions from abc and rivals and scout get paid by subscribers so of coarse theybgoing to skew the rankings a little way to make the people happy

We only have 14 commits, the average rating of our commits is good and then you consider we're about to add another 6-8 guys .

The guy who founded Rivals sold it and started 247. Rivals lost a lot of veteran scouts, etc.

ESPN has been pretty **** good.

Regardless of what site you look at... you can usually look at who is offering/visiting the kid to get a good idea of his talent. There are always exceptions to that rule, but these coaches usually do their homework and have more inside info than a scout from rivals or ESPN.

Our commits are rated higher on there. Scout really is bullsh*ting Miami's class. On 247 Miami has the 7th highest average recruiting ranking at 90.38 it is actually over fsu's as well. Most programs ahead of us have 20 plus commits, once Miami fills the class we will be in the top 10 if we close well
The ranking system is off if its based off the number of recruits...ex. my team has 84 of 85 scholls already filled i have room for 1 and i use on the number 1 punter in the nation... i did good i can't help that i could only take 1 and it happens to be an 83.3 ranked punter...they need a new algorithm. ..

This too. The whole multiplier idea is absurd. Naturally teams taking more get ranked higher.

They should have two rankings. One for the average player ranking and one for the cumulative ranking.

Stupid not to include a :not compete clause".

ESPN used to be pretty bad with recruiting until they put some effort into it once it really started blowing up.

Now I think they are probably the best.

247 sports is the best IMO

They have both a composite of the big 3 (ESPN, Scout, Rivals) as well as their own rankings.

They said Byrd was the #50 cb tho

Still???? Smh. (I forgot he was in the AA game and not the UA game..Probably why they have 49 DBs ahead of him. Lol)

No... he's ranked the number 9 CB by 247 now..

I don't understand ranking the classes by the total number of stars as opposed to average per player. I would think a class with 16 4* would be better than a class of 25 3* assuming you've addressed positions of need.

Sheer numbers as you mention is why Goldens first real recruiting class was rated so high. Signed 35,with plenty of 2* and 3*.

Yes I like their rankings but I'm saying as far as coverage and the whole deal, I think ESPN has really stepped up. 247 used to be the clear cut #1 though I agree and you could certainly still say they are and be correct.
