#14 on espn

is it just me or do we seem to always do better on espn than the other services ? seeing as how our teams have generally underperformed as of late I am not convinced their rankings are very good.

Ok, I'll bite. What exactly is there to dislike about this post?

I voted up this post. Not sure why it was voted down. The OP was merely updating us on our recruiting class ranking on ESPN. If we close well we will end up with a top 10 class, maybe even borderline top 5 class.

You're missing on one extremely critical variable

They rank HS kids, not how a coaching staff will develop or utilize those kids.

Our commits are rated higher on there. Scout really is bullsh*ting Miami's class. On 247 Miami has the 7th highest average recruiting ranking at 90.38 it is actually over fsu's as well. Most programs ahead of us have 20 plus commits, once Miami fills the class we will be in the top 10 if we close well

Corches aren't included on those rankings

Exactly. 247 and ESPN both have ranked our class higher, with less recruits b/c we're dropping dead weight and adding quality. Once we get to 20+ and pending on who's are remaining commits, we could crack top 10. It didn't hurt, either, that some of our recruits have bumped up in rankings after all-star game performances.

I don't understand ranking the classes by the total number of stars as opposed to average per player. I would think a class with 16 4* would be better than a class of 25 3* assuming you've addressed positions of need.

We will be top 10 just off reeling back in Ahhmon Richards. Never mind if we grab guys like RDavis, JWim, RFinley, EStove or any of the other DTs that might still be in the picture. (mainly KSmith) And this is a very small class compared to what we will haul in next year IMO.

I have to say...most coaches who get thrown into a job with only a month or so recruit..most people just chalk that class up to them being too late to the party. (like Haughbah last year)..but Richt has somehow salvaged this class to the point where this could very well be his worst ranked class of his tenure here when we look back years from now... And there are PROGRAM changing players in this class! I love recruiting and this has me very excited for the future.

ESPN used to be pretty bad with recruiting until they put some effort into it once it really started blowing up.

Now I think they are probably the best.

Top 10 class is very doable. ****, I expect it, but let's not lose perspective. Even if this class stayed at 14, that's a win for a staff that's only really recruited for a month. We haven't had anyone in a long time who would have been able to keep this class from going in the toilet.

Interesting question. I too have noticed that a lot of kids we land tend to be ranked higher by ESPN than by the other big two (scout and rivals). I would have thought that scout and rivals would have a better florida presence yet it seems that ESPN quite often has Florida kids that are 4 stars on their ranking yet those kids are 3 stars on both scout and rivals. Hmmm???

That's why I prefer CanesInsight over all of them. This is the site where local folks who've seen these kids play come to share their opinions.

The Under Armour game tends to have a lot of Florida kids & happens to be broadcast on ESPN. Not a conspiracy type of person, but I think there is a direct relation.

Also, ESPN has a top 300 while Rivals has 250 & the other 247. That extra 50 players can allow putting more Florida boys in there.

247 sports is the best IMO

They have both a composite of the big 3 (ESPN, Scout, Rivals) as well as their own rankings.
