Amazing we continue with total defense. It is either a troll or utter stupidity.

How about scoring defense?

Miami is 7th in scoring D.

I've noticed this too. Keeping them off the scoreboards is all that matters at the end of the day. All other stats are great for discussion, and help gauge the overall efficiency of defense. But scoring defense is still far and away the #1 defensive stat.

Shhh keep this on the DL. Side note you a clipse fan?

The Defense is elite..... and Deon Bush isnt even part of that comment yet.

KC Rodgers, AJ Highsmith, and Rayshawn Jenkins have all elevated their game so much that even when Deon gets 100% healthy, he is still going to have to elevate his game from last season to win his starting job back.

Which is only a good thing.

Let's be mindful that these statistics were produced at the expense of two cream puffs. Nonetheless, great production either way.

Let's be mindful that the defense was ranked 116th in the nation last year due to youth and lack of depth. Our fans were calling for Coach D's head because they are idiots who have zero vision or patience. What Coach D has done with this defense is nothing short of amazing.

This has nothing to do with vision or patience, this is just a lack of basic football knowledge. As for the florida game, this is same offense that ran over FSU in trailerhassee, with a first year oc. We gave up 16 points to them and it was not just driskell who had turnovers.

What I can recall from last year is that our D-line was getting pushed 2-4 yards off the ball every play and our LB's looked lost in space, regardless of who we played. I am not seeing either of those things thus far, which is why I am very pleased with our D and am optimistic that it can continue to be a solid unit.

Florida would have hammered Miami last year. Burton was pretty much a non-factor this year. How often have we complained about the LB's not covering TE's? Running QB's going wild? How the defense has made every QB look like an All-American? They will start giving up some yards as they play better teams, but the difference across the board with the DL, LB's, and DB's has been huge, and that's with Bush out of the mix. He didn't look good against SSU. He looked like he was in pain trying to catch their RB on the long TD run.

Would you agree, that based on what you've seen so far and our schedule, that the only obstacle to a 12-0 regular season is FSU?

no. until we prove we can go a full season beating the teams we have more talent then on paper then i would say we still face obstacles with UNC, VT, GT, and Virginia. We SHOULD win all those games, but the jury is still out. Also the game at Pitt late in the year scares the **** out of me.

The biggest difference is the front seven. Opposing RB's are now getting hit by 300lb DL and 240lb LB's near the LOS, instead of 190lb DB's 5 yards downfield.

anybody minimizing the dramatic difference in our DL (and the defense as a whole) compared to the last two years has an agenda. As many have been preaching for two years now, Donofrio had virtually nothing to work with, because of defections, suspensions, and poor recruiting. He had a bunch of freshmen and other inexperienced and undersized players all over the place. it was an impossible situation.

even now, he's working with a retread on the interior who did next to nothing at UVA. and renfrow has been tremendous spelling Porter.

I was hoping for a top 30 level defense, but under Donofrio's leadership, this group is clearly exceeding that.
