#14 In Total Defense.....

These stats can't be right because Wildcat schooled us all on the facts that South FL talent can't play in a Hybrid 3-4 defense. Coach D is making some porsters look like ****ing idiots.

LOL, wildcat is a joke. He should worry about his own defense that got smoked by Everglades 30-0

Amazing we continue with total defense. It is either a troll or utter stupidity.

How about scoring defense?

Miami is 7th in scoring D.

Message boards hate scoring defense. It's irrelevant to them.

Their agenda is clear in those porsts. If anyone actually watched the UF game you saw a team go down the field but not score. They didn't only score 16 because they missed a bunch of field goals, our defense forced turnovers.

Let's be mindful that these statistics were produced at the expense of two cream puffs. Nonetheless, great production either way.

Go look at our stats against Bethune and Boston College last year and then get back get back to me

This!!!

They are better stats than last year and we are better than last year but we have played 2 cream puffs and an inept Gator offensive team. Lets pipe down a little

So we're already downplaying the UiF win, I see.

"Inept" offenses had no trouble racking up 200+ rushing yards on us last year.

And This!!!

Very exciting to see. After our conference schedule those numbers will go up a bit but probably average out around 20-40 (which is major improvement)

When it comes to defensive rankings both sides are important it's dumb to act like it's not.

Scoring defense matter's if you don't score you don't win is why we play the games.

Yards are also important. For the most part If you don't allow yards you're getting 3 and outs or the team can't even reach field goal range which at the same time goes back to scoring defense.

All stats are important but the most important one is the W-L column. We could be dead last in defensive rankings in the country but go 14-0 Would everyone simply be happy we won the title, of course!!! We, as fans like to see dominance. Dropping 40 points per game while allowing less than 10 points per game every year would be nothing short of amazing. It's a dream.

We beat UF but had a decent offensive performance so we criticize the offense. When you love someone or something you and only you reserve the right for criticizing. I don't mind criticizing when it comes from Miami fans. I read it, listen to it, because this is a family. It's like your kids you're the only one that reserves the right to tell your kids what to do. You'll say "Go to College, Get a job, Do good at school, Go do your chores." No one that's not in your family can tell your kid those things. Same thing when it comes to Miami.

You love someone or something you hate when anything goes wrong. If something does go wrong you're going to hear it the worst from you're family(fans). Now let some other fan base come on CIS and start openly criticizing this team. It becomes a war then. We would all instantly go into battle mode to fight and defend our family (player's).

I don't mind reading criticism about our guys on here if it's warranted or they provide a valid argument to prove their point. But the one line statements like "Duke is slow" "Morris sucks" "Coach D gave up all these yards to UF" "We only score against creampuffs" is a little much. If you are going to say something like that at least back it up and also post why you feel that way.

I mean other than a 75 yard td run against 3rd stringers when nobody was lined up correctly, they only gave up about 100 yards total which realistically is pretty great no matter who are playing especially playing so many newbies like we did

That Red Zone stat is very, very real, just ask the gator. Keep in mind 6 points came on ST gift of blocked punt. I am drinking all the Kool-Aid this D is passing out. ****, the second team is better than starters were than last year. Tackles are now stopping player where hit instead of dragging them down after another 5 yards. Regardless of opposition, there is SOUND to our hits this year; last year there was none. Tackles with sound equals pain. Pain equals owning the fourth quarter. Owning 4th Q equals Winning.

We might have to just face the fact that we have a defense and find something else to complain about. I notice a lot of people have moved on to Art and the Oline. That is fine. During most of our NC years(not our last one), Oline was weakest unit. I can live with 4 more NCs complaining about Oline.

Intranets be serious business..... Go ahead & talk about his fat wife and ugly children while you're at it.

When you're made to look stupid the only thing you have left is the victim card? Had to listen to his stupid **** all offseason. He deserves his plate of crow.

I've noticed this too. Keeping them off the scoreboards is all that matters at the end of the day. All other stats are great for discussion, and help gauge the overall efficiency of defense. But scoring defense is still far and away the #1 defensive stat.

You don't need rankings or stats. Just use your **** eyes.

It ain't even difficult.

The defense looks dramatically improved. Should not be too much of a shock, yeah, D'Onofrio had issues last year and the D was historically bad, but Golden/D'Onofrio had a similar curve at Temple where they went from one of the worst defenses to one of the best defenses in one season's time.

I'd like to see the defense versus a team with a capable offense, but so far, so good.

The Defense is elite..... and Deon Bush isnt even part of that comment yet.

KC Rodgers, AJ Highsmith, and Rayshawn Jenkins have all elevated their game so much that even when Deon gets 100% healthy, he is still going to have to elevate his game from last season to win his starting job back.

Which is only a good thing.

Oh and I got Miami playing in the chip this year........ BLOOOMKABLAM!

Deon was a little slow out of the gate last year too but blew up after some action. Not sure many appreciate the surgery/recovery he had for an athlete but he is one of, if not the best overall athletes on the team. We will be so much better when he gets rolling, no disrespect to the other safeties who have been playing well.

The rankings could also get better.

You forget that most BCS schools have front loaded their schedules with cream puffs.
Louisville is #1 in points against after playing Ohio, eastern Kentucky, Kentucky and fiu.
Do you really think Louisville has the top defense in college football?

agree i dont think Deon even expected that surgery to still be bothering him but once the day occurs when he runs or goes for a tackle and the "pain" is no longer there then he is going to take his game to another level imo.

BUT........SSU scored on us.....
