paid alot of attention to Asante Cleveland in this game...and dude was really BLOCKING hi *** off...funny considering i think he wasnt that good of an inline bloker here...but dude had a few legit "PANCAKES" that i got excited about...if he can do that he will get drafted and make an nfl team because of his size any way.
Yeah I opened this thread expecting it to be all about Asante Cleveland and was astonished at nothing but Hurns on the first page.
Cleveland never looked that engaged and intense while blocking as a Cane. Today it was play after play. The announcers wrongfully ignored it, particularly on the touchdown run when the LSU fullback had a pancake block. They fixated on that block and totally missed that Cleveland opened the door with a great block of his own.
When the assistant coach called out the deep flag route for Cleveland, I thought he was nuts. Cleveland was light and limber as a freshman. Since that point he must have gained 30 pounds and virtually all of it is in his lower body. I didn't think he had a prayer to get there.
Granted, he was singled with a linebacker and not a defensive back but Asante still ran a good route and then absolutely plucked the ball out of the air at its highest point. That play alone should get him drafted. After the play I had to conclude we wasted Cleveland the past three seasons, by simply assuming he couldn't make plays like that and never allowing the opportunity.
