Least excited I've been for a season in a long, long time. As for the defense, I've never seen so many guys running wide open. With other, normal, capable defenses you see a guy running that wide open maybe a couple times a game and you say, "there was a huge breakdown, someone blew an assignment." With our defense it looks like someone is blowing an assignment every play.

This. Plus, I'm going to the Louisville game...so I'm happy to see our guys play live and in person again (in the new unis, no less), and to reconnect with all of my Canes Fam over the Labor Day weekend. Plenty of reasons to be pumped.

If you're not pumped, then maybe you ought to make plans to come and watch it yourself. Enjoy the weekend, the tailgate, and hopefully...the outcome of the game.

Mcgahee how can you blame a defense that has been bad the last 3 years on rodgers and highsmith?

Do you know in about 15 years as a d-coordinator or head coach he has only had a top 20 D 2 times? Once at uva and once at temple and they were 17th and 18th.

Uva had several nfl players on that D including 2 all pros and he only was top 20 once and just 17th.

In 3 years guys still dont know the d thats coaches fault.

And dont bring up muhammed wilkerson he was a player that slipped through the cracks.

The numbers dont lie golden and d'onofrio are not good defensive coaches.
 
The personnel screams 4-3 defense, we are trying to run a variance of a 3-4. square peg meets round hole.

Agree that we should line these guys up and play a **** ton more man coverage instead of that bend don't break BS.

You've got to weigh the pros/cons of this.

Do we have elite man cover guys on the outside that can hold up all game in Man? I don't think so. I think the only guy who could is Howard, and even at that...I have questions about his recovery speed.

That...and I think that as of right now, other than the DT spot, we're starting to have all the pieces to run a 3-4 that we need. It's on the coaches to bring that together. If they don't--see ya later.
 
lol. It's an embarrassment how bad these corches are. They have no clue what they're doing.
