Best OL we've ever had if they return and if Rivers moves back to LG and Samson plays LT.

Or McCoy. ... Any chance Mauigoa moves inside? Whatever, just get them back!

Any shot we can convince Cohen to stick around after earning honorable mention All-ACC?

I agree. I really don't have to go to the portal with OL. Continuity matters so much up front and it feels like we are starting to establish legit depth for the first time in ages.
My hope for best 5 would be:
Samson
Rivers
Lee
Cooper
Mauigoa

With McCoy, Kinsler, Bell, and Rodriguez as the second group.
Yeah I think Samson will take the LT spot at some point. He’s grown in a lab to play that spot

Just reading an online draft report on Matt Lee and to paraphrase, here are some strengths and weaknesses:

Strengths:
good strength, good fundamentals including positing his body in the right angles, quick feet, may project as an OG in the NFL.

Weaknesses:
May set too tall, a bit underpowered as a run blocker and often comes off the ball too high, not so much the mauler type,

Would the ideal OL look like…

LT - Bell/Samson
LG - Rivers
C - Lee
RG - Cooper
RT - Francis

Samson/McCoy might be impatient but that’s a pretty **** good starting 5 there with two quality backups
Don’t think Bell is far enough along to secure starting snaps….

I'm really surprised by both grades. Is Rivers really that low vs other projected OGs? I was thinking bottom 4th, upper 5th for him. Same with Lee at Center, tbh.

Don't get me wrong, I'm ecstatic they're potentially coming back. What top QB wouldn't want to play behind our OL? It will be best in the conference without question.

that some great news on Rivers and Lee. sad to say but Zion but it appears that Zion might not play ball for anybody due to knee issue( bone on bone)
Zion is a myth, a legend, 5th cousin to Peter the Rabbit. I don't think he ever emerges again in a Miami uniform. Hope i'm wrong

People keep saying this but he had his fair share of struggles in pass pro this year and didn't even play LT in High school. I bet he stays at RT.
He could

But what you’re saying and what I’m saying can both be true. The kid was a true freshman

I’ve said the same about Mauigoa. These kids are monsters but they’re young. Why would we just assume that what they look like right at this moment is how they will look in a couple of years?

It’s a projection and relies on development

I feel like a real option at QB would seal these two back.

Go get a QB Mario

If we were to look objectively at it (not considering player feelings, NIL, biases due to high school), Mauigoa is a guard, Rivers is a guard, and Samson is a tackle but shouldn't start until year 3. Samson may have the most raw talent of the three. But he's not strong enough and as you note, he's got a lot of development to go with his footwork in pass pro.

The irony about Zion is that I feel like we wrecked his career by rushing him. SMH. Kid added over 50 pounds in a year and we rush him out to play against Florida. I was against starting him all the way until year 3 when I saw he was finally maturing into his body and developing into a legit pass and run blocker. Then he gets injured and all the Zion is the Gawd rats jump ship and scuttle it on their way out.

People thought Jalen Rivers couldn’t play LT even in the spring

It’s not really worth debating at this point. Not that it’s a “debate”

It’s a good problem to have

If they both return I could see a few variations.

Rivers could play LT again, Mauigoa at LG (ideal for him IMO) and McCoy could play RT. Or McCoy at LG and Mauigoa back at RT. I saw them breaking in McCoy at LG.. it seemed to prepare him for next year.

Or Rivers kicks to LG, McCoy or Samson at LT
