First time surtain has ever talked about visiting miami.

Fort Lauderdale American Heritage five-star cornerback Patrick Surtain Jr. took an official visit this past weekend to LSU.

On Monday he was at Miami for an unofficial visit.

"I just wanted to see the basketball game and talk with the coaching staff," Surtain Jr. when asked why he was in Coral Gables. [UM cornerbacks coach Mike Rumph] invited me out. It was a good game. I wish they could have held on."

Surtain Jr. has long been considered an LSU lean. He said that he enjoyed his time in Baton Rouge with Ed Orgeron and Corey Raymond.

"They were just telling me how much of an asset I would be for them and all the things they like about me. They said I could play right away."

Surtain will get to Alabama this upcoming weekend with teammate and good friend Tyson Campbell for his second official visit of the recruiting process.

As for the rest of his visits?

The U.S. Army All-American says those are up in the air right now.

"I still got to schedule the last two."

Ohio State is working to get Surtain Jr. on campus before Feb. 7's National Signing Day. So is Clemson, Florida State and others. It appears however that Mark Richt and the Hurricanes might be in the best shape to host him for a visit once he returns from Tuscaloosa.

"Yeah," Surtain Jr. said when asked if Miami is in good shape to land one of the final two visits. "I talked to Coach Rumph about it and there's definitely a chance. It's my hometown and I still want to see more things at Miami."

my pants are growing.

Ivins posted an article stating PS2 wants to see more of Miami after last night.....

And here we go!

I've always felt it was strange that for such a sure-thing-don't-even-waste-your-time-he's-going-to-LSU recruit, PS2 still isn't committed there and sure is spending a lot of time around UM.

I also thought mom was pushing the LSU angle, but that was patently incorrect (quite the opposite as I've come to learn). Pops def has been sold on UM.

I'd be shocked if he didn't OV. Even if he's not coming, no way he doesn't OV.

I agree. I understand if you to want to leave home to go away for college but at least you show respect to the home school and your "father figure coach" by giving them one of your allowed 5 visits.

And people say this guy doesn't have and never has had any interest

Nope. No interest at all....

This doesn't mean he is coming but you chicken little faaggots that continue to repeat "we have no shot" or "he is not interested in us" can eat a big fat ****.

Let's go Richt and Rumph! Close this ************!

Rumph out there fighting and I'm rooting for him!

Mike Rumph gonna have to host a corner back clinic just for y'all the amount of backpedaling some of y'all about to do if he lands Campbell and Surtain.

They're feeding Pete gloom and doom so they look like superheroes when they pull all 4. That "we feel confident" rap hasn't worked well for them publicly.

I had the same thought. Mostly because I just can't fathom Rumph striking out to that degree.

Rick is going to take this from Rumph and get it done. No way he lets Spermy Fart punk him. Rick won't lay down for UGA. He might be sending out Tweets talking up UGA, but, in his gut, he's got rage for them.

...it also enrages the richt haters here in GA. that are dumbfounded as to why he would be wishing the team that canned him the best. when i tell them that he recruited all those players, he has a relationship with them , they even get more mad. then i though in that they beat no one respectable except ND who we BLEW OUT, UTENN and UF sux, they get more mad

Great news! I'm starting to fall for what Franchise is selling. I mean, if not, then that means I'm supposed to believe that we are so far out of the race for Surtain and Campbell that we won't even get an official visit? I mean that just cannot be possible. It's one thing for kids to want to get away, but to not even come on an official? Just can't believe that. Bring em home Pastor! The doors of the church are open!!

A lot in our favor for a guy like Surtain. One important thing is small class rooms and the private, better education for someone who comes from a well-off family who's parents are much involved in his life. Don't under estimate parental guidance and the importance of staying close to family. A guy like him is not enamored by travel, dining and attention like other kids.
