Except for all the times we see guys jump in after these deadlines that don’t seem to actually matter.

Listen, this seems personal to you. I’m good either way.
No it’s personal to you.

A definitive statement is someone saying someone is coming to Miami that’s not even in the portal, instead you want to say what I said is a definitive statement when I’m going off the rules? You are the 🤡

no. they dont just jump in after. they sign their paperwork. its just reported or officially entered in a few days after due to processing.
Or perhaps they are using the Wisky playbook.......................

Still say we should have gotten on Mensah early…..everyone in CFB knew he was hitting the portal but as usual we don’t do anything quickly around here.

OK, nothing personal here, but this was not an issue of "knowing he was hitting the Portal" or "not doing anything quickly".

We back-channeled Mateer all fall. We made him our #1 target, same way we did with Ward last year. If we were planning to offer Mensah, we would have done so, though I highly doubt we would have given him $8M for 2 years.

This wasn't about "early" or "knowing" or "quickly". He wasn't our top target and Duke clearly outbid ANYONE ELSE by at least double.

you think we aren’t going to overpay for whomever we get now IF we can find someone…and when Mateer’s coaches headed to OU adding to the parents wanting him closer to home there was very little chance we were going to get here and the guru of recruiting should have seen this cause I think most everyone else did._

The Holiday dead period is now over, and the Miami Hurricanes have some big-name visitors on campus. USC transfers WR Zachariah Branch and S Zion Branch are in Miami today.

The 5'10, 175-pound Zachariah is one of the most dynamic players in the country, with a 10.33 100M, 21.01 200M, 24-0 long jump and 46-4.25 triple jump. He was an All-American punt returner as a freshman with two TDs, and amassed 47 receptions, 503 yards and a TD this season as a receiver.

His brother Zion is a 6'2, 210-pound safety who made 15 tackles with 3 passes deflected and a sack in 2024. He missed 2022 with an injury from fall camp. He was also injured late in 2023, which ended that season.

The brothers were the first college football players to sign an NIL deal with Jordan Brand. They have NFL royalty in their family, as their great uncle is Raiders legend Cliff Branch. In their free time, the brothers created the Branch Out Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting youth initiatives including homelessness, after-school programs, health and wellness as well as other charitable causes.

They fact they took Poff was a sign they were ****ed and then luckily forced Cam to somehow sign here.

Otherwise it would’ve been Poff and Emory.

Now it’s Emory and Nickel.

This always falls on the head man. This is unacceptable.

In the end, it may end up working out for him in getting lucky with a QB but this is definitely not the way to go about this process.

Come on, man. We needed 2 Portal QBs last year no matter what else happened. TVD left and Emory was healing from a broken arm.

Had Cam Ward stayed in the draft, we would have pursued another Portal QB in the spring window.

Only Mario and co think doing QB this way is ok and doesn’t negatively impact everything else
Malpractice at its finest.

"Nice to meet you Zacharian, this is our beautiful campus and look at the renderings of our football-only facility that probably will never be built! Wow, also say HI to Sebastian the Ibis, here for you!"

"Yeah, bro, who's your QB next year?"

"Say HI to Sebastian the Ibis, here for you!"

I'm not commenting about what is happening now.

And the "seeing the part of the iceberg above water" stuff about Mateer is not nearly the full picture. If message board posters want to give up hope based on one school hiring an OC, that's up to them. We were definitely close to getting Mateer to visit, though.
