Everybody on OL has been beating, this “he shouldn’t see the field” is ridiculous and over exaggerating.

He’s not one of the best 5 oline on the team.

Whether it's Miami or Oregon, Mario has zero history of whiffing on all his targets down the stretch lmao

Predicting the absolute worst case scenerio ain't being mope, it's just being a soft *****.

Big difference between not being able to flip a recruit committed to another program and not being able to land an uncommitted recruit. I doubt he whiffs on any uncommitted recruits but you can’t count on flipping recruits from programs with deep pockets. Yes it can and does happen , Cristobal has proven he can do it, but nevertheless It’s a low percentage shot.

If UM goes undefeated in the regular season, wins the ACC, and makes it to playoff semis- do you agree that just getting the #9 or 10 class would be a little bit disappointing, especially with Cristobal’s recruiting ability and the NIL available? I think all that should merit a top 5 class.

I think anywhere top 10 is a win and I said that from day 1 of his hire.

Being top 10 every year means you can compete. Top #5 is so **** hard.

It takes a **** load of money. Miami has sucked for 25 years. One hot start to a. Season doesn’t change that. These kids have already decided. This season will pay off next year. How many times do I have to explain that!?!?

That was my point. Relying on flips in November every year will eventually bite you in the ***. Relying on the portal will also bite you in the ***

We gotta stop with this.

He shouldn't be seeing the field with his play this year but we have staff hyping him up as a potential 1st rounder.
Think he said in 2026…You don’t think that’s a possibility?

We signed a #7 class off a 5-7 season, followed that with a #4 class off a 7-6 season. We're 9-0 and looking good to finish undefeated and make the playoffs,so a lower class than the prior 2 is a bit of a head scratcher.
When can we start judging those classes?

2023 class doesn’t have many starters

Well, I'm not an OL Coach, so that's not really my area of expertise.

I just go by what I see & what I've seen is his pass protection has been porous when faced against Speed rushers. I record & rewatch every game & focus on different aspect of different units on both sides of the ball. Each time I've looked at the OL, whenever I saw #70 at LT, his kick-slide looked cumbersome. His ability to move laterally & backwards isn't as smooth as Mauigoa's or Rivers.

He's a good run blocker when his gets the chance to downblock & zero in on his man. But in one on one situations on the Edge, it's been a struggle IMO.
Ok so let me ask you this. I played and coached WR so really curious how you see it. With all the reps he’s getting now (and the kid is getting a lot) and with a full off season then next year; do you believe he can develop into a 1st rounder? I know he’s not McKinney now but…?

Most fans focus on overall ranking, but the following metrics are almost always stronger indicators of the quality of your recruiting class:

- Average rating per recruit (we're currently 14th)
- Number of 5* recruits committed (we have none yet, per the 247 composite)
- Number of Top 100 overall players signed (we only have 2 right now, per the 247 composite)
- How you fare at the premium positions: QB, WR, OT, DL, CB

The lack of top-end talent in the class is by far the biggest issue that will hopefully be remedied down the stretch. Landing at least 1 of Pickett or Hanks to pair with Antoine is imperative. It looks like we'll be missing a premier WR1 again, which is unfortunate.

Even if we don't seem to have a realistic path to a Top 5 class -- which is evident when you see there are five programs with at least three 5* commits and at least eight Top 100 commits -- hopefully we go on a tear down the stretch and at the very least close with an elite CB haul.

Everyone is down on Bell like he wasn’t always supposed to take a shirt and really get into the fundamentals and learn the nuances of the position… he’s getting some great coaching and I’m gonna have to guess he went to a small school ended up at juco and got just a little bit better coaching there…

I think he has all the tools and I think if he puts in the work to make it more fluid and less robotic/cumbersome I think at worst he’s a RT here

"Christian Clemente (Auburn 247 mod) and I are hearing the Tigers are in a really good spot for USC cornerback commit Shamar Arnoux.

Feel great about Auburn's chances here.”

Vernell Brown seems like a long shot

DJ Pickett feels like a long shot

Hayden Lowe feels like a long shot

TJ Alford, Hanks, and Carter seem more receptive then the others

No.

I could be 100% wrong, but Idk how anyone can watch Bell play & see a 1st rounder.

In the last two drafts, 13 OT's have been taken in the 1st round;

1. Paris Johnson Jr - Oh ST
2. Darnell Wright - Tennessee
3. Peter Skoronski - Northwestern
4. Broderick Jones - UGA
5. Anton Harrison - Oklahoma

2024
1. Joe Alt - Notre Dame
2. JC Latham - Bama
3. Olu Fashanu - Penn ST
4. Taliese Fuaga - Oregon ST
5. Amarius Mims - UGA
6. Troy Fautana - Washington
7. Jordan Morgan - Arizona
8. Tyler Guyton - Oklahoma

All I can say is, if you watch those guys play, then watch the 2025 1st round projected OT's play, then watch Markel Bell play, it would be nothing short of a prodigious cosmic level evolution for him to be a 1st rounder by 2026.

He'd have to essentially go from being a borderline 6th man on the OL to being a 1st team National All-American that gives up 0 sacks & 0 pressures in just one offseason.

Is it possible?... Well, anything is possible.
Is it likely?... Idk, you tell me?

Think he said in 2026…You don’t think that’s a possibility?

Best case would be oversized tackles that have gone in the recent drafts like Dawand Jones. Strickly RT in the league who aren't that good at pass pro. 3rd/4th rounder range which would still be one the highest picks Miami's had on the oline in a while

These are 3 of the top projected OT's for the 2025 draft.

None of them have given up a Sack or hardly any pressures all season.

Has Bell played that well this year?

If not, how does he go from wherever he is now, to playing in the realm of not giving up a Sack or any pressures?

If yall can answer that, then I'll change my mind & join in on the Bell 1st rounder parade.

Gotcha…Man I just look at his physical tools and be like dang he has it all but definitely a developmental prospect with insane upside/potential. I’m truly banking on a big leap next year.

The pass pro splits way way down…

Nah man you on it from my perspective. I’m just engaging in lil “what if’. I don’t believe he’s near that so I’m with you but he’s a hellevu recruiting tool if he did.
