This is a tough time for Miami on the field but recruiting never stops. Some updates on various key targets:

- Things continue to move in a very positive direction with Louisville commit DE Cole McConathy (Mobile, AL). Like Markel Bell, who committed last week, McConathy was first identified in the Bank as a major Miami target. I like our momentum there.

- CB Xavier Lucas (American Heritage) is another name first reported in the Bank that is beginning to pick up steam. There are several schools (like FSU) trying to flip him from Wisconsin, but Miami is in the best position.

- Miami continues to build momentum with Ohio State commit RB Jordan Lyle (St. Thomas). I don't know if the recruitment is as advanced with Lyle as the other two, but Miami is making very good progress.

- With Jimbo Fisher fired at Texas A&M, OL Isendre "Papa" Ahfua is firmly back in the picture. Expect the Canes to make a run there.

- Miami is very happy with the senior progress of QB Judd Anderson (Macon, GA). A source had a simple answer when asked about his season: "Stud." With that said, I expect Miami to aggressively pursue a high-level transfer QB to pair with Anderson.

- Anything can happen in recruiting, but there is not a lot of concern about TE Elija Lofton (Las Vegas) right now. He is considered internally to be one of the most versatile players in the nation.

- Status quo with CB Zavier Mincey (Daytona Beach). Miami likes their position but it's a long time until the Army AA game, when he announces.

- The staff was very encouraged by what they saw from CB Damari Brown and CB Jadais Richard in the FSU game. While they will still pursue impact players at CB, there seems to be less desperation at that position in terms of the Portal. Daryl Porter, Brown and Richard all project as starter-caliber and they like Robert Stafford. However, expect an extremely aggressive pursuit of the safety position.

- Alex Donno mentioned this on the podcast, and I've been able to confirm: Booker Pickett will be playing linebacker at Miami. This does not mean he won't rush the passer, as LBs Francisco Mauigoia, Wesley Bissainthe and KJ Cloyd have combined for 10.5 sacks between them. But they would rather him focus on being a versatile player than bulking up to play EDGE.

- I can see Miami looking to get bigger at DE in the Portal, even with big DEs like Reuben Bain and Akeem Mesidor coming back.
Bruh if they get Cole I’m going to lose it. That kid is as legit as they come

What is wrong with some of you?
This man is giving you FREE updates about UM recruiting and so many of you talk sh*t about him or the program in this thread?
But if you feel the need to talk sh*t about @DMoney or the program, at least have the basic courtesy to do it in another thread. There are plenty of threads that are critical of UM and available for your witty comments.

These guys never learn. Need veteran depth. If the young guys win out, they win out.

Defense is the best thing we have to sell so why aren’t we selling defense to recruits and portal targets? Have we not learned any lessons from this year and how bad our depth is at so many spots?
It sounds like we may have a limited budget for the portal and have to be selective how to spend it.

They will evaluate all names in the Portal, and we need numbers alone. But they think they have three starting-caliber guys and they like Stafford. I sense there is more urgency (i.e. budget allocation) at safety.
There should be cause safety I am worried about with kieth and JH. We need to be better there.

LT and Kam both posted the Mel Kiper pos rankings and 1st rd Mock Draft which had them both in the first round

So they're prob both gone

I honestly don't think Kiper pays attention til after the season…Unless you are like a monster UPWARD mover, or QB/WR.

We must get some game changing DT’s in the portal-

You look at what the top 5 or 6 teams roll out-

If you want to be elite it starts there-

Georgia rolls out them out in waves the depth is sick.

Agree on the corners-They did a good job considering they were going up against NFL talent.

I think they are growing comfortable with a top 3 of Porter, Brown and Richard next year. They also like Stafford and will probably bring in four CBs from high school.

They will evaluate everyone in the Portal, but I get the sense the big money goes to QB, DT x 3 and safety.
I'm in agreement with them, they have to develop Freeney and Stafford. Unless its a definate portal cb starter quality ...ill spend money on a safety in the portal.

Both Browns coming back with Porter, Richard isnt actually bad. Im thinking if we can land Lucas one of the freshman cbs should be able to get some spot duty as well.

Guidry tried to land Sam as a safety this year so im sure he needs to grab a beast safety in the portal regardless of what our current starters do.

Agree…It was nice to see how the corners held up against FSU.

Like D said…If a star corner wants to come then ok. But other positions needed more. I think Damari Brown is going to be very good.

Good question. If Day is coming at cb then it's 3 adding him and Lucas,if he's a safety then it's 3 with Lucas and the 4th could be Ellis.
Day is a nickel so you kind of have to consider him more of a cb.

Ive always counted him as that spot as he stated it in an interview.

Im seeing Lucas being the 4th cb...dont think Ellis Robinson is in that number. Lucas would be a pretty good late flip for me as i thought we shouldve been on him.

A safety they should try to flip is Art Jones teammate.

Not really. FSU will regress to the mean next year. Travis, Benson, Coleman, Wilson, Bethune, Verse, and Cypress leaving is going to hurt. FSU has lacked at recruiting the past couple of years. They lack depth at key positions and don't really develop at a high level. Unless FSU goes out and spends 10+ million on the portal I don't see them reloading for another run.
FSU currently has the #3 class in the nation ad will be in the portal again. Temper your enthusiasm on the fall off.

Damari Brown and Bain were my two favs in last class ive been high on him the whole time. The next few games is good for his progress moving forward. His bro has to get out of his funk to.

I think his bro is probably a jag and I said it at the time…But maybe he can be serviceable. But I think he kinda lost his way earlier with the quick hook after the PIs and he probably expected a little more PT after transferring. Especially with all the pub he and his brother got with interviews in August, etc...

U don’t like KJ? Last year with a real OC he had 32 TDs 5 INTs lol in the sec with a tough SEC schedule
Ppl just talk out of their ars. Dude was/is playing solo this year with that con man Enos to start the season.

KJs size speed w our oline may be big time.

Yep, stick to Dane Bruglers draft projections and you are better off. He is the true pro in this scope and definitely has a legit handle on things.

He had Kam at #27 before the season and now has him outside the top 50. Leanard Taylor dropped out as well, he actually doesnt have any UM players is his midseason top 50.

IMO, they develop very well. They have a better NIL than us now, they might end up with a top 3 class if they get Smith and others and the portal is still there. They can sell success.

Don’t matter. Travis is the engine that makes that thing go and they’ll take a step back there. I’m not saying they go 6-6 but I’ll bet a lot of money they’re not 10-0 this time next year.

Back to the point of the thread though, I’ll believe Mario can’t recruit when I see it. I still expect this to be a Top 10 class when ink dries.
