I agree that Bain could be an incredible 3tech but I also agree with @htownkidd that Bain is fine where he is. I think what we are going to end up seeing is Bain move all around the line during games. The kid is just a prodigy! He is a man child! Dude is going to wreck shytt from everywhere on that DL and it's going to be glorious to watch!
He’s the closest D lineman I’ve ever seen to Sapp since Sapp left in 95. That’s how unbelievably talented and good this kid is.

The point is, people don't want to play Rodriguez without there being an adaquate reason. If Kinsler is this good, he'd be the backup now.
I already said I want the best 5. That means if Kinsler is 5th I think he should be getting with at center. If he’s 4th and is at Guard and the 5th is Rodriguez that is fine. But if kinsler is 4th and McCoy is 5th, bell is 6th, and Rodriguez is 7th… why would we want Rodrigues starting unless the others are struggling with the shift to center…

I was asking.. not stating. You can’t answer a question with a question lol
I think fruit loop is gone (iykyk) Harvey is gone and idk who else.
We don't have any Senior Edges but I could see some leaving in the portal. Like u said Chantz possibly being one. Him and Jalen Rivers are real tight so if Rivers goes pro than I think chantz is def gone. Harvey is technically a Jr tho so I figured he'd return...maybe not with Mesidor likely (hopefully) returning

Why would we want to start someone who is outside of their comfortable position? Playing G is not equal to playing C.

Its not difficult, Rodriguez is the best C after Lee on this team.

…. Today, and would he have started if everyone was healthy? Pretty sure Denis was injured if I remember correctly…. I’m talking about next yr though. I don’t know why you think it’s a crazy thought for Kinsler and McCoy to surpass Rodriguez. I feel like you’re stuck on them being too big, which is not a real reason…

No, I'm stuck on them being simply better suited for other positions. McCoy is currently our swing tackle and Kinsler hasn't played a snap.

You're stuck on them because of size.

A center has responsibilities that other linemen don’t—snapping the ball consistently and being the QB of the OL (making reads calling them out so other linemen know who to block when showing blitz or pressure).

A center also needs to be athletic enough help G block DT and then get to 2nd level defender on runs.

Center can be 6’2 or 6’6 as long as they can do those things. There are just more 6’2 guys able to do those things because there are a lot more guys who are 6’2 than there are 6’6 lol

I agree you want the best five OL on the field, but center is more unique and a bigger learning curve than a switch from LT->RT or G->T/T->G.

I trust the staff to put the best guy at C next year. Rodriguez looked fine besides one hold when he played, but we should feel confident that at least at that position group our staff will make a good decision

Don’t know where they’ve played Kinsler but last year they tried McCoy at center in practice. Don’t know if they’ll continue to work him in there in the future but they must currently like Rodriguez better at Center as he’s the one backing him up when Lee goes out.

Just how tight are Chantz and Jalen?

The size argument is far less important than making the calls. Matt Lee runs the show up front.

I agree.

But the original debate was literally me being told he’s too big to be center. I don’t think there is anything about theses guys’ size/athleticism preventing them from being a center. Is that where they want to be? Is that where we need them? Are they capable of making the move and having control of the calls? All important non-size related aspects.

Put it like this from the moment after the ball is snapped who is likely to be better - Kinsler, McCoy, or Rodriguez, or someone else? Thats imo the size factor. Who wins the starting job is likely based on the moment until the ball reaches the QBs hand though

Idc where they’re better suited if we have entrenched starters at those positions lol. I want our best 5-6 guys on the field. If Rodriguez is that guy he’ll be our starting Center. If Kinsler and McCoy are those guys then I’d like to see if one of them can transition to center and be better than Rodriguez. Simple.
