So, with him replacing Arroyo and the young TE's providing backup, does this free us up to move Lofton to RB? Is the staff talking about doing this?
This guy is more of a Cam McCormick replacement than an Arroyo replacement. Lofton will be replacing Arroyo

The Canes added a redzone threat with the commitment of Tulane TE Alex Bauman.

The 6'5, 245-pound native of Red Bank, New Jersey has caught 12 TD passes in the past two years for Green Wave, including 7 as a junior. Over his three-year career, Bauman has played 1,553 snaps, 38 games and made 63 catches for 610 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Bauman played 73% of his snaps as an in-line tight end. He played in a run-based offense, but fared much better as a pass catcher (69.9 PFF grade) than as a run blocker (43.7 PFF grade). He only had two drops this year and has dropped 8 passes in 3 years. He is considered a willing blocker with an "all-ball" mindset, as reflected by his role as a core special teamer.

As a true freshman, Bauman made the game-winning catch to beat USC 46-45 in the Cotton Bowl.

Bauman was recruited as a three-star DE out of Red Bank Catholic, and also played basketball:

Bauman chose Miami over Duke and Indiana.

Would he be consider a blocking te or legit threat catching the ball too .

He's more of a receiver than a blocker right now, although he's willing.

Source raves about his hands and football mindset. Core special teamer as well.

I don't think he's replacing Arroyo by himself but he will help.
Watching his tape he’s looks pretty athletic. Nobody is replacing Arorryo he’s the best te we had in a long time .

Riley Williams really played himself with his portal move and lack of patience. Now he's going to disappear at Oregon State instead of increasing his opportunities, while this Tulane kid enters the big time in his place

My favorite pickup in this portal season. Big upgrade over Williams

Welcome to the U!! Going by Tulane fans (which isn't many) and their media..they like Bauman a lot over there.

Do you guys think he came here for free?
Not sure what your point is here.

Money isn’t bad, but love is better. He came to Miami because in the last 3 days he learned how much he loves the school, on top of how much loves the game of football. The pure love of Miamischoolgamefootball is why he will be lining up for the “good guys” on Saturdays. If he was only concerned about the green, he would’ve stayed with the Green Wave. Instead, he’ll be in Green ———— and Orange

Oh and news flash: there is no tax bracket on love.
