I know everyone is on the "Bench Baron permanantly" backwagon but we need all 4 DEs to be ready to go these next two weekends. Nobody is not needed. That said, Mesidor earned the right to stay the starter going into the Syracuse game especially if they believe Clark or Moten can man the middle with Barrow. (which is key in this scenario. Lets not discount having to send Mesidor back to DT out of necessity)

You make it sound like Alston and Brown are definitely back against Syracuse. Don’t believe anything until you see it with your own eyes. Mario cannot be trusted when it comes to injuries.
alston didnt even dress. i think well get brown back though.

I'm not. We'll be a more balanced offense. Perhaps relying more on the running game, which is just fine. Is Will Howard a Supreme QB? NO. He's a game manager with elite players around him. Howard is really just an average passer. We just need a capable QB who doesn't turn the ball over. It's either Emory or a transfer QB. I'm good with either.
Best take I have heard about next year so far. The Will Howard comparison is spot on. The O-Line will be better and our stable of backs can run on anyone. I actually think we will be better next year relying on the RB room.

Get a game manager and let those guys run for 250 per game. The defense will be better also. Cam helped us to get through this year. We needed it and got it from a spectacular player. It will be nice seeing one of our guys in New York this year for the Heisman.

David Lake did a great job highlighting the differences coming out of bye.

-Porter played outside CB

-Meesh moved to nickel

-Mesidor played DE

-Baron only 3 snaps

-Popo gave Mauigoa rest, played under 50
Snaps first time in conf, played best game

-George and Horton played more, Sam Brown snaps were cut. Thought process here is teams have been playing more coverage, and George and Horton are better in short passing game(screens, stop routes, Slants).

-Clark played more snaps at DT

-Cam Ward took more of what defense gave him as his depth of target was lowest in conference play

Its funny that Richard getting hurt might have been a blessing in disguise if Porter and OJ can stay healthy. It basically sent Porter back to his most natural position in this stretch run of the season.

JTaylor will have to do his best coaching job of his career to date keeping Baron engaged and coaching him up. 3 snaps is WHOA! I had no idea it was that few. He still has talent. Just coach him up and let him know he is still absolutely needed on that DL.

Browns target are now going to Arroyo. GOOD... Horton, George, X and Arroyo should be your top 4.

Gotta get Popo ready to be the starter next year so "on the job training" especially at this point of the season is priceless.

This clearly says to me that our issues with the edges last week was not just scheme. I pulled my hair out watching GT last week and now I know it was a lot of Baron improvising and playing unsound football. Hopefully this helps him to get back to the basics, because I cannot watch those ****** stunts anymore and his inability to play sound gap integrity.

I think the end score is more indicative of the actual game vs how close it was early. Stats point to that too.

Penalties and unforced errors kept it closer than it was. Clean it up

Also the taunting on lyle was such a ***** call.

Refs are so weak
Have to agree with you there. There’s a noticeable difference in the ACC officials handle that versus how SEC officials handle it. I’m an advocate of letting the guys play and only stepping in if I absolutely have to do it.

I will say this though - that stuff is put into place at the top - I’m not an ACC official (obviously lol couldn’t post on here if I was) BUT I guarantee the ACC Commissioner of Officials has plays like the Lyle play in the offseason as “points of emphasis” and forces his staff to penalize it.

No doubt Lyle is our most complete back in years-

He was the best RB at Aquinas in years or since the days of James White and Giovanni Bernard-

He’s better than both at this stage-

Mesidor belongs at DE, he sets the edge much better than Baron-

Moten has developed nicely no doubt.
Baron has placed himself in a spot to where he now has to come off the bench for the betterment of the team. Not only does Mesidor set the edge better, Moten is a better player at DT than Mesidor, which significantly improves our run defense.

It’s not about being benched, or supplanted, it’s how you respond to someone taking your spot.

So no speed rush you say, yet the play I referred to was clearly a speed rush. Beat the tackle right from jump. In NFL, he may be a better at DT, won’t argue, but in college, he has proven to be VERY effective at DE
@EmCane ran across these highlights today and saw the play you referred to ... i think on second glance you'll agree that that was not a speed rush

facts ... staff gave him crazy opps even to the team's detriment ... mezzi is hungry

I expect our defense to be significantly better as well. They may be younger than this year's starters, but the young defenders are more athletic and more talented.

Tyler Baron won’t respond to the benching well and we know that. There’s a reason y’all didn’t highlight his Storm Sessions on CIS. It would have been open season in the comments lol.

Boy is cooked and stealing checks.

Mesidor looked great back on the outside and I’m excited for Alston’s return.
Moving Mesidor inside was idiotic

Lyle is faster, has better balance and better vision.

The stats (avg.) also favor Lyle by a decent margin YTD

Most would argue you need to handicap those stats by the fact Martinez and Fletcher softened up the defense for 2-3 quarters before Lyle came in. The one game we held Martinez out until late and ran with Fletcher early, he dominated. Literally carried 11 defenders into the end zone.
