S Hylton “Drake” Stubbs commits to Miami

The fireworks started early for the Canes with the commitment of S Hylton “Drake” Stubbs.

The 6’1, 190-pound Jacksonville (Mandarin) product ranks as the 56th overall player in the nation and 9th overall player in Florida. As a junior, he totaled 97 tackles (8.5 TFL), 6 INTs, 6 PBU, 3 FR, 2.5 sacks and 2 FF. He also scored 4 two-point conversions as a WIldcat QB for the state runner-ups.

Stubbs committed to USC in March but decommitted following his official visit to Coral Gables. He chose the Canes over Florida. Stubbs played his 7on7 ball for Coach @Stevo365 and Jose Duasso on RAW Miami with Canes commits Amari Wallace and Ezekiel Marcelin.

He is the 16th commitment in the 2025 Class, joining QB Luke Nickel, RB Girard Pringle, TE Brock Schott, TE Luka Gilbert, OT Jaden Wilkerson, OT Demetrius Campbell, OG TK Muex, OG Max Buchanan, DE Herbert Scroggins, LB Gavin Nix, LB Elijah Melendez, LB Ezekiel Marcelin, DB Amari Wallace, DB Tim Merritt and CB Chris Ewald.

I think every program will lose key guys yearly. Guys that’s barely been there a year. Imo a lot of the mediocrity on the field is NIl leveling the field and also it’s hard to coach like previous years. You’re constantly begging kids to stay or trying to tamper kids at other programs. On top of not having kids as long on the practice field you can’t develop your recruits. That or some body takes them after you e put in all the work. Another reason why the on field product is hurting around Cfb.

Seems the portal is much more important than the recruiting class. At least you know what you are getting at the D1 level instead of a kid out of high school.

Time to put an end to the whole moronic Mario can target a single position group in recruiting. He tried it at DB and failed miserably. It is a dumb strategy anyway considering there are more than 3/4 position groups. If he could have landed elite DBs two years ago we wouldn’t have Jaden Harris starting at safety. Top programs land elite players across the board annually.

They need to do away with the instant transfers. Bring back the year wait. With NiL it creates free agency.

The lack of portal rules are the #1 problem with CFB right now.

All these dudes UF is about to get, all they're doing is going get their money now and then when they don't play enough next season, they'll hit the portal and get their next round of money elsewhere.

Same thing with aTm a few years ago.
