Realistic goals in recruiting and on the field

There has been a lot of talk about moving the goalposts in terms of expectations. So I figured we could write down some goals in this thread and see how they pan out. Here are mine:

1) Land 3-4 Top 100 Composite players by the start of the season

We have two Top 100 Composite players committed- DE Marquise Lightfoot (62) and RB Kevin Riley (70). This is a goal, not a prediction, but I think we have a chance to add three or four more by the time the season starts. This will help build a base of impact players so we are not overly reliant on flipping. For reference, below is a list of Top 100 players by class in the Composite Era. NFL players are bolded.

2) Put together a season that breeds confidence from fans and outside observers

This one is self-explanatory. I don't have a number- you know it when you see it. The 2016 season is a good example. There were ups and downs, but by the end of the year most people inside and outside the program felt we were headed in the right direction.

3) Finish with a Top 10 Class

If we accomplish Goals 1 and 2, this will put us in a position to flip some targets and land in the Top 10. Miami hasn't landed consecutive Top 10 classes since 2005- nineteen years ago. This is why we brought in Mario. Add in some good transfers and a high-quality transition class in '22, and this should have Miami's roster in position to take another step.

I would love to know who the best freshman QB was... but regardless, you reiterated the point I am making. Both coaches suck..... So I am not going to hype up the coach that sucked just a tad bit less.

Caleb and TVD were regarded as two of the best freshman QBs in the country following that season. then riley left and took CW w him. tvd stayed w mario and looked like ****. both did suck. mario was worse bc hes an experienced HC performing like a first timer. BV was a first time HC who stunk.

I'm willing to see this class slip a little so long as we win and see really good progress toward consistent 10-win seasons. Win 8-9, maybe win the bowl to get to 10-3. Finish with a top 10 or top 15 class. Win 10+ the following year and another top 5 class...

Money isn’t the issue. It’s having to pay more than the frontrunners because of the past 20 years and last years abortion.
According to the insiders innis was offered more than what osu gave him. And there lies the problem. We don’t have the product to attract kids based on money alone.

But anyone ethat acts like they know for sure what our record is gonna be is just crazy.
There are too many new pieces including both coordinators.

I think we can be confident that we will be better. But no one will say for sure by how much.

Let’s hope for a good close to the cycle.

Bare minimum, we need to finish ahead of FSU and UF in recruiting rankings. Bare minimum.

We need to sign at least three 5-stars minimum. We need to finish at least top 5.

One took over a playoff contending, 11-2 team and turned them into a sub .500 team, one took over a trainwreck, and kept them a trainwreck. Your logic is quite flawed.

I highly doubt top 5 is even possible. Even with a great season. We have to remember other teams are still recruiting. I say we need to just focus on a top 10 class again. Back to back top 10s is how you start the "stacking".

We had about a million elite kids visit over the summer. Need to get those visits converted in to signatures and commitments.

Something is obviously broken right now with our NIL. We need to fix it. Not lower our expectations because people want to cheap out or get frugal.

OSU &OU might have more NIL power period. need to start posting some W's...... Venables has been in a few recruiting dog fights with Canes this cycle .we lost a TE & looks like 2 DT's as well.....maybe NIL, maybe 5-7

Jayden Jackson is committing tonight isn't he? They probably just threw a bag his way and got him to maybe, potentially, think about perhaps possibly considering Miami.
