💯. LOL at thinking that this changes anything. This program has bigger issues than coordinator or position coaches whether it be Guidry, Steele, Gattis, Strong, etc. We have tried the "fall guy" route already. Guidry was incompetent but as I said, he is symptom of a larger problem with this program.
You and I, we know what or who the problem happens to be. However, we will be called haters!

After a season in which Miami's defense likely cost the Hurricanes a spot in the College Football Playoff, the Hurricanes will be making a change at defensive coordinator.

Lance Guidry is expected to be fired, sources tell CanesInSight. Against FBS opponents, Miami finished 70th in scoring defense (26.7 PPG), 50th in 3rd Down Defense (37.75%) and 82nd in takeaways (1.3),

Mario Cristobal issues the following statement on the decision:

“I want to first thank Coach Guidry for his contributions to the University of Miami.

“In a continuous effort to always improve all aspects of our program, I have decided to make a change on defense. We will move forward and make decisions that provide our players, staff and program the best opportunity to win and develop at the highest level.”

The defense was one of the worst in the ACC during conference play, struggling with communication and pre-snap movement, among other areas.

Miami will now look for its third defensive coordinator of the Cristobal Era, following Guidry and Kevin Steele.

In 3 years at Miami Mario will have 0 ACC championship game appearances. 0 bowl wins. 2 OC and 3 DC.

This man better figure it out, and figure it out fast.

Refresh my memory. Didn’t Steele get poached by bama? Or was he encouraged to look for work elsewhere? I forget how his defense performed and how it ended.
“Firing” probably not the right word

Seemed like it was a mutual parting of the ways type thing

I wouldn’t say poached either but I only know what I was told

What are you talking about? We already fired Coker/Shannon/Golden/Diaz and Shalala is long gone!

I agree with what has been said. New DC needs to be able to bring in who he wants. Enough piece mealing a staff together for the sake of keeping South Florida coaches happy. Keeping local guys on the staff hasn't worked either as far as recruiting goes.

You think Saban hired him against his own will??

Half of CIS thought he should have been fired mid season, so maybe that was the "months of waiting?"

Certainly no excuse for the lack of coordination on D. Too much confusion and lack of production. Regression.

Serious lack of communication and coordination amongst the players on the field which to me was a sign of bad communication amongst the coaches. This was Guidry's unit so the firing is justifiable, but he will land somewhere else and do fine. He is a good coach at the wrong place, imo.

I'd keep Jason Taylor and possibly D Nic ONLY
