Miami’s best defensive player is back.

Mario Cristobal told Joe Rose of WQAM that star DE Rueben Bain is a “go” for this weekend’s game at Cal. Cristobal said Bain looked great in warmups before Friday’s game against Virginia Tech, but that the staff erred on the side of caution. Bain, the reigning ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year, has been out since the first quarter of the opener against Florida.

Cristobal was noncommittal on the return of starting LT Jalen Rivers, saying that he will be a gametime decision. Miami’s bye week is after the Cal game, which may factor into the decision.

The Canes (5-0) will take on Cal (3-1) in Berkeley on Saturday at 10:30 PM EST. ESPN College Gameday will be broadcasting live from campus earlier that day.

Did he update the other injuries at all? Barrow, Alston, Harris?

D$ and others have mentioned Brown is a later season thing. Not season ending though.
Yep. Late October early November time-line. I think the GT game on 11/5 is a realistic target for Damari.

If no Rivers/Rodriguez I think we need to give Fletch & Lyle the primary carries. We aren't getting same push on left side with the backups and Martinez' super patient running style isn't meshing right now. We need the more decisive guys toting the rock. But as another posted noted, Cal DL is weak compared to Va Tech.

I get that Cal doesn’t have a great D line. However, it sure would be nice to get Rivers and Rodriquez back to see if they can help get the run game going. I wonder why Rodriquez isn’t even mentioned? I thought he had a nigh ankle sprain. I wonder if he needed a simple surgery. Who know man.

You won't hear anything concrete for a few days. But, there are internetz rumors that we have a few guys banged up from VT that probably won't play against Cal
