We ended with a thud. The guy who carried us is gone next year. Multiple board sources are saying NIL still strong but pulling back a little. We likely have corch changes on the D side.
That said wait until Wednesday to see how everything plays out before writing an obituary or taking a victory lap.

I’m sure like everything else, the truth lies somewhere In the middle. Are there some key folks who are ****ed and felt like the money was wasted and are perhaps gunshot to keep giving a lot of $$$? I’m sure. Are there many others who are still behind Mario and are willing to give $$$? Yeah.

I know a lot of people on the board probably don’t care anyway, but I’d leave if I was Mario and the support dropped to a non-competitive level. You can’t win in today’s game without major financial backing. No matter who you are. That’s why Alabama, and Georgia got more loses than they have had in a while. They have one foot in and one foot out on the NIL game because they’re trying to hold on to living off those championships. They haven’t even started to play the NIL game heavily yet.

Some of you need to go back a few pages in this thread where DMoney had to convince people that he wasnt another Corey Flagg with a little more twitch. The masses werent really blown away by Nix's Sr film. Maybe Mario is reevaluating NIL distribution and some kids low key are getting the "yesterdays price, isn't today price" treatment... Nix would absolutely be on that list of kids if you ask me especially if we are going all in on Alford and Wiley..I like Nix, but we shouldnt overpay for him either.

I didnt see as much concern over Marcelins film as I saw about Nix's. Maybe I missed that conversation though. I for one liked Nix alot. But you dont overpay for him either especially when you have Ardarius Hayes waiting in the wings and Popo being the man in the middle next year. There is talent at LB..we just have to develop them and get them ready. If we need to overpay for a position..its CB. And a legit portal Safety who is ready to play Game 1 next year.

Thats fine. Let Oregon overpay for him. Thats all im saying. We have way bigger needs at other positions than LB. We have talent at LB in that room. We need to develop it and actually play the guys who deserve playing time. (I.E., Bobby Pruitt). We are not void of talent in that room like we are in the CB and S room. Those kids just need to be given a chance.

I’m afraid the only way to fix DB is by taking 5-8 DBs. At minimum 2 corners, 2 safeties, and a true nickel. Maybe as many as 3-3-2 and tell a few to hit the portal
No lies spoken in this post. If Mario wants to keep the momentum going and show continued progress, he has to find a large group of immediately ready players in the portal.
Good thing is he’s not completely ignoring high school recruiting like FSU has done and seems to have laid out a budget for each.
But for the health of the program, the large percentage of our budget needs to be in the portal for the 2025 season.
I’m just hoping we don’t get into the never ending loop of always trying to play catch up in the portal every year. High school recruiting is still important.

DB recruiting is embarrassing right now after Stubbs flips, Ewald mid, Wallace hurt, Antone hurt
….or maybe that was addressed by Lanning/UO and his concerns were put to rest? Our defense sucks, everyone knows changes will be made. It isn’t the same.
