I didn't mean that as an argument. I agree with you. I was just wondering why we stopped hearing about him after all the praise he received during the spring.
He had a.....young person mishap. I'm just glad he's on the team and on track to play.

Smh every report I see someone impressing. Either we're going 15-0 or these reporters/journalists/insiders dont want to ruffle feathers. Dunno, Pete, D, the guy w the beard, always butterflies n rainbows.
I understand what you’re saying. But I’m also not sure what else you want to be posted. The players are asked a question, and multiple guys pointed out that Aguirre has been impressive.

None of these guys are going to say somebody is struggling, obviously.

But respect from fellow teammates is not normally handed out easily so it means something.

Also, I don’t think it would be right to flat out trash players from D$ or my perspective. You can read between the lines at certain positions, if we aren’t mentioning certain guys it’s probably because there isn’t much buzz or haven’t done anything noteworthy.

Does Guidry run 3LB or mostly a 4-2-5 with James Williams being the 5th/LB type role?

Curious how Bryant develops and where he fits in. I see him more of a JACK with this new scheme. Would like to see him get some time behind Harvey if Chase Smith can’t get healthy.

As excited as I am to see a new offense, I really want to see how Guidry mixes and matches the skill set we have with the defense. Can’t wait for game 1.

The entire class will be dogs we haven’t had here in a while

I’ll even go as far as this current class everyone ***** on will be dogs

Mirv, out

Bryan Cranston Mic Drop GIF

I'll give you last year because we had the NIL Funds to recruit with the big boys. This year we are bargain shopping after losing out on a great deal of our top choices.

Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think James Williams is physical enough to be effective at LB. Sure, the size is there, but the dog isn't based on what we've seen the last two years.

I'm 100% with you on that. Ever since we got humiliated by Louisville in the bowl game I've been hoping for mixed fronts with only 2 with hands down. Bridgewater got all the praise for that game, and he was impressive no doubt. But it was that defense that shocked and humiliated our team more than anything. We have the right athletes for it now.

I respect your last paragraph about not trashing our players. I remember in the old days on the Scout board Mike Bakas used to characterize some of our players as JAGS and I always believed that was Bush League.

I know that Bryant has been at Mike LB. Funny you say that about Jack being the position that you feel he fits best because I just always thought Malik would be a no brainer at OLB. Yet here he is repping at Mike. I'm not against it as I think the kid is an explosive player that can go sideline to sideline. Malik is instinctive too so I think the coaches see a player that they feel can be molded into a great Mike LB if they can harness his explosiveness and aggression and channel it into great MLB play. Malik has those instincts and he's an intelligent young man and that is something the great Mike backers all had. Intelligence, instincts, speed, agility and explosion.

How could anyone ever forget the RAB which stood for Royal A$$ Beating. It was after that game where I wanted Fat Al gone. That Bowl game concluded his 3rd year and it was obvious that we were never going to go anywhere under his leadership. What I could never figure out is why he willingly tanked his own career out of loyalty to Donofrio. It made no sense. The guy was quite literally the worst DC I have ever seen at any level. Why attach an anchor to your feet like that?

On a sidenote..... Could you imagine a program with Gattis as OC and Donofrio as DC? I couldn't think of the right HC to oversee those two failures but just imagine the disaster come game day. :rk5i6fxwjlgev5j6.jpg: :ibis-roflmao-sm3:

I guess I figured Jack since he played DE in high school. I’m really excited to see what guidry does. Pretty clear it’s Wes & Francisco to star with Flagg first off the bench but who knows after that. Good to have competition at that spot finally

I'm excited to see what Guidry does as well. Yes it's definitely Wes and Francisco with Keontra Smith and Flagg backing them up. Will be very interesting to see who out of Aguirre, Bryant, Smith, Pulliam and Washington will be among the first to emerge from the pack.

My guess is Popo and/or Bryant are taking snaps from Keontra by mid season. Keontra just looks lost every time he is on the field so unless something finally clicks for him I see his role diminishing as the season progresses.

Chase Smith is still injured I believe and hasn’t played a meaningful snap in years. I don’t count on him. So after Flagg there are still a ton of question marks.

Guidry mentioned in his post practice interview that the 3rd linebacker spot is interchangeable. He won't be in the box taking on pulling linemen. He'd be a down safety to the field side when personnel dictates it. Every team in the country runs some form of this. The base package with a true sam will feature an actual linebacker but how much of that we see is based on the oppositions personnel.

Cool story bro, I was out shopping for furniture with my wife wearing a Canes t-shirt. One of the guys that works there, helps carry the stuff out, saw my shirt and started a conversation. He is a personal trainer as well and trains Popo, spoke very highly of his work ethic and desire, expected big things of him.

I don't think it's the lack of physicality. He has played erratic and undisciplined since he got here. He'll be a total baller if he can stop with the bs.
