I REALLY hope that we land every single one of these portal players visiting. But I find it strange that folks are taking a victory lap for backing Mario’s portal prowess when these kids are just visiting. Can we maybe get some commitments first? FWIW I expect Mario to crush it this weekend.

That is not what is happening, there is no "victory lap".

For weeks, some (by no means ALL or a MAJORITY) have complained that nothing is happening with Mario and the Portal, simply because "Gaby" didn't have anything to report on an hourly basis.

Now that it is beyond obvious that 7 Portal visitors and AT LEAST 4 high school visitors are here on the same weekend on an organized group visit, it validates what SOME people have said for weeks, that a lot of effort was being made, even if those efforts were not public and/or publicized. And also because when THOSE bits of information were shared over the past month, some posters were similarly "attacked and bullied and intimidated for being honest and well-intended" and called slurpers just because they reassured people that Mario was back-channeling and tampering like a madman.

Nobody is taking a "victory lap". Perhaps a few "I told you so"s were expressed. It's not the worst thing that's ever been said.

Sir, it is fairly easy to pull post after post that was some variation on:

1. Mario is doing nothing in the Portal
2. Mario is waiting until guys are already in the Portal to express interest
3. Mario doesn't back-channel Portal guys
4. Mario has some lengthy process of character evaluation that is delaying him taking action with Portal guys
5. John Ruiz is broke, we will never get a Portal recruit again
6. Mario is so paralyzed by fear that he can't pull the trigger on any Portal offers
7. Mario is lazy in the Portal
8. Mario is cashing paychecks and is complacent about the Portal

This is more than just "1 or 2 posters" who are saying these things.

They are bigger BUMS than the guys Mario had to get rid of last year.

To follow the team. That doesn't mean i have to wear a skirt and pom pom's like some of you. I'll be in stands during the season, and if i leave in disgust in the 3rd quarter because we can't score and Coach has used all his timeouts i'll still be here to listen to all you crash back to reality.
Thank you for the response. May I ask what your expectations are for this year? Are you excited for any aspect of this years team? Be it a player, coach etc.

Easy. I'm not attacking or bullying anyone.

Maybe some of us concluded the wrong things here, but there are also a LOT of posts that have ripped Mario for his Portal 2.2 effort over the past month.

Let's all talk calmly and work it out. Nobody needs a coconut upside the head.

I'm really excited about the DC/scheme. I have hope for the offense and OC but the late hire already set us behind and the thin *** QB/WR1 room has me worried beyond this year. As far as this season goes i have low expectations.

Careful. You’re at risk of being labeled a slurping bully like me. 😂
Same dude was hyping up Richt and rusty pelican macaroni and then ****ting on the board when little hightower was threatening to go to Illinois.

Sad thing is, Secret unofficial HS visitor isn't even the weirdest name i have seen in this lifetime
What's going to go on the back of his jersey? Visitor or HS Visitor? Could it be one of those long hyphenated last names like.... "Unofficial - HS Visitor"?

The irony is that the only criticism I’ve had of Mario related to the portal was because people on here told me he wasn’t going after more LBs, another DB or an OL. Yet here we have every one of those positions represented.

I mean, do people really think his skill set for being an elite HS recruiter is so dramatically different than transfer recruiting that he wouldn’t be at least really really good at it? And he’s brought in a much more aggressive recruiting staff over this off-season. This outcome was inevitable.

The only fear I have at this point is can we close the WRs. Because Mario will be relentless and it’s just down to getting a guy who buys into Dawson, Beard and TVD. Also a serviceable backup QB. But that’s asking too much lol.
OR maybe people could be logical enough to realize schematically we could very well see improvement with the exact talent we already have in the room. Not saying necessarily that we will. But as y'all have said over and over gattis was a part of the problem last year. So replacing one of the problems should imply improvement. Some of the people in the wr room, (especially considering there's already new talent in the room)should see serious improvement not only cause of the scheme but cause it's another year of game experience as well. Can't realistically expect every kid to come from high school or other schemes and instantly give peak impact. Let's see what changes coaching can make when it's given a significant opportunity.

I think you could drop the HS once he enrolls.

"Secret Visitor" will rank up there with "He Hate Me" as one of the all-time best jersey names...
Of Course! How silly of me! Of course we would drop the HS one he enrolls!

Idk if you agree but the WR room isn’t perceived so poorly in Coral Gables like it is in CIS. To your point, kids are benefiting from the scheme but have also improved since last fall. Hence, why we aren’t taking so many kids in portal for that position outside of 1-2.

Young is on the verge to blow the **** up.
