We just celebrated signing a kid that transferred to 37 schools in a few weeks and then ****ed around with us until the final buzzer

I was going to do a bit of a post portal wrap up session but was like nah I need to see who actually is on this team for Florida first
I was writing an article for next week and now I'm like
*PAUSE*

Can I follow up on this with you?

What was the "SEC agreement" that he signed, and would it even be valid?

Allow me to explain. Kid was at Michigan State. Fine. As a transfer, you can't sign an LOI, you just enroll when you transfer.

The only other agreements I know about would be the "financial aid agreement" and an NIL deal.

So Barrow is in the Portal and is being recruited. Why would he need to sign any kind of a deal with LSU? And what would that deal be? It seems very strange. Before I looked at his timeline on 247, I guess I just assumed he had gone from LSU to MSU, but then I saw he was at MSU all along.

If LSU never enrolled this kid, how can they limit what schools he can attend?

I'm VERY confused at this point.

One word "tampering/early payments"

You sign an agreement to the SEC school you plan to attend and it goes along with the financial aid agreement. You can only sign up for financial aid for 1 SEC school before you have to be released or are subject to the intra conference transfer limitations

OK, so it is really more of the financial aid agreement. Which is weird, because I've only ever thought about that in the context of high school recruits. Fair enough.

It still seems unusual that he was SOOOO into LSU as an option that he signed a financial aid agreement that removed 15 other schools from the equation...and then he ended up at Miami.

Strange stuff.

Idk the details. But, if he told players he’s out of here, after being on campus, for what, 2 weeks?

Id tell him here’s the door if you want out. Good luck. Idk what kinda message it says giving in any way to keep him around.

Per Gabby:
Should Missouri get the “tough luck” response in their argument that I highlighted and Barrow elected to leave on his own and walk-on at Missouri, I think there would be a chance that he is ineligible next season. My understanding is that because he’s received aid, the only way he could leave and be eligible elsewhere this season is if Miami dismisses him from the team. Again, that’s assuming that the argument sides with Miami that he’s been matriculated longer than what it appeared in portal database or whatever it is that shows status.

There are rules in place to prevent players from taking money from one school and then playing at another post may portal window. No one can enter the portal after they’ve accepted aid in the summer unless kicked off the team. Best example, Chris graves last year. Barrow will be ineligible from competition this fall. It’s clear buddy doesn’t understand the rules. It’s beyond dumb to risk eligibility in your last year of college.

Like it was before this news for 2024, in CWard and an open and aggressive offensive scheme we trust (pray for).
