I've been someone that supports getting Lo in the game, but also suggesting that the frustration to be able to do so at this point is misplaced, since he's been hurt. I'm not sure if Manny quite understands the inconsistency of his position on needing to keep Zion in there and getting Lo in the game. In one breath, he said that Lo needs to be able to do all the things required by a RB, including blocking, and through no fault of his own, is behind because of a lack of game reps vs. Bethune and Central Michigan. Then in almost the next breath, he says that Zion needs to continue to play because getting him game reps is so valuable and will help him improve. If those game reps are so valuable for purposes of helping guys get better, then doesn't logic follow that the only way for Lo to truly get better is to get those same game reps?
You're missing an absolutely huge fact that make those two situations completely different. We have a really solid RB in Deejay who is having a good season thus far, and have a strong RB behind him in Cam. We aren't in "need" of an RB right now, so if the coaches think he isn't fully healthy, OR isn't fully ready (scheme, playbook, blocking assignments, whatever it may be), OR simply that Deejay or Harris are better options for us right now, then it's an easy call for them to not bring Lo in (which is exactly what happened vs CMU; the staff has said point blank he WOULD have played if we had gotten in front like we expected to).

That's not the situation with Zion at all; in fact, it's the exact opposite. That's why we had an 18 year old kid at LT facing the gator pass rush. We have nobody else there, so all we can do is keep giving Zion reps and hope his play gets better. The situations aren't even remotely the same. Hence, the difference in comments on the two from Diaz. It's not rocket science, nor is it some huge conspiracy.

+1 . The mismanaging of players is distasteful BY THIS COACHING STAFF (amateur hours and it shows) just like if Zack McCloud wasn't willing to redshirt prior on his own we would have waist his last season but yet they say he is too valuable. Smdh

Don't get me wrong I'm still pulling for this staff to be successful by all means but this talk is all too familiar and US fans have seen this outcome way too many times before.

GO CANES!

No cap, I get anxious when I see a Diaz or Enos presser.

Go back to all the yap Diaz was spitting at the beginning of the year, before the ball was snapped, and now. Literally sounds like two different persons. Pre-season, Diaz sounded like a savage coach. In-season, Diaz sounds like a savage corch.

I did not say that their situations are the same. I agree that the situation on the OL necessitated getting Zion into games before he was ready (physically, mentally, etc.), whereas we have the luxury of 2 very good RBs in front of Lo so that we didn't need to play him. My point is that Manny said that Lo was behind because he hadn't seen game reps, again, through no fault of his own, and as a result, was still working on getting certain concepts, like pass blocking down, while saying that despite Zion's struggles, he's going to stay out there because game reps are so valuable. The common thread between the two players is the value of game reps to their development.

I am not suggesting we suddenly put Lo in there for 20 carries to get him game reps, but I think it's completely reasonable to find a package of plays that he is comfortable with so that he has the benefit of getting game reps. This is especially true given that it's not like our offense has been cranking out explosive plays. He doesn't deserve to vault over Deejay or Cam at this point given their play so far, so that's not what I'm suggesting. The reality is that we may need him at some point this season to play meaningful reps if we have an injury to one of the other guys, and the sooner we are able to get him some game reps to prepare him for the rest of the season, and to see if he's able to help our struggling offense, I think it would benefit our team and him.

so Diaz is telling Lingard to sit on the bench quietly this season then transfer when it’s over. Genius!!

This staff shows their incompetence everyday... how tf is pulling away from CMU the prerequisite for Lingard getting in the game?? 🤡🤡🤡

Well I'm sure there's some offenses that could figure out a way to use him...

Our ELITE offense is just too complicated for Lingard, maybe he ought to do what's best for himself & find a place that better fits his skill set.
I don't know man. He couldn't get burn in Richt's offense and they only had 4 plays in the playbook.

None of our best players are playing. As someone who visits CIS everyday, I can confidently say Tate should start at QB, Lingard should start at RB, Pope needs to be WR1 and Zion is the worst LT on the roster.

Until this coaching staph makes the changes I agree with they're nothing but a bunch of corches.

Agree with every point you made. I'd love to see Lo out there this Saturday as well.

My post was simply in response to you criticizing Manny for saying on one hand Lo needed to improve things before he will get game reps, whereas he said Zion needs to keep getting game reps in order to improve. Like I said above, the difference in comments is related to the difference in situations. We HAVE NO CHOICE but to continue giving Zion live fire action and hope he improves. What's the alternative? There is none, so the staff has to keep giving him reps whether he's ready for them or not. Not the case with Lingard.

But this will all likely be a moot point anyhow. I'm sure Lo will find his way onto the field, and likely as soon as Saturday.

I don't remember anyone arguing that...

But I think the point people are making is that we have players who can help us & for whatever reason they're not getting an opportunity to do so. And the reason why people would like to see them in the game is because the guys that are playing ahead of them aren't necessarily so dominant that it's ridiculous for another player to get a snap or 2 behind them...

However, I think they should keep status quo & not play anybody they don't think should see the field, even when the Offense is under performing & struggling just keep the same guys out there & wait for it get better.

He didn’t get an opportunity in one game. One.

Let’s see what happens.

I said this another post, CMU is too much on the forefront of everyone's mind. Our offense actually played better against UF, so that's to say everyone is judging Miami on their worst game of the season and taking for granted this is how we're always going to look.

Games 2 and 3 gave people a lot of what we wanted to see on offense. We put up the most yards UNC has allowed all season. This offense isn't the disaster everyone is crying about... at least not yet. Let's calm our **** in that regard and give the coaches the benefit of the doubt that they're playing the best players... at least for now.

Diaz looking and sounding more like a corch each day that passes, he's in over his head. Shocked Zion is still getting a lot of reps, he's not ready, period. Just don't get not getting Lingard touches at this point, going to lose this kid and I wouldn't blame him for leaving.
