DE Herbert Scroggins IIi commits to Miami

The Canes landed one of the top targets on their defensive board with the commitment of DE Herbert Scroggins III. As first reported three months ago on CanesInSight, Miami has prioritized the 6’3, 235-pound Savannah native as an impact stand-up rusher.

A product of Benedictine Military School, Scroggins is a high academic (3.8 GPA), athletic (leading rebounder on his basketball team) and productive rusher who starred for one of the top teams in Georgia. Scroggins chose Miami over Auburn.

Miami now has 14 commits in the 2025 class: QB Luke Nickel, RB Girard Pringle, TE Brock Schott, TE Luka Gilbert, OT Jaden Wilkerson, OT Demetrius Campbell, OG Max Buchanan, OG TK Muex, DE Herbert Scroggins, LB Elijah Melendez, LB Ezekiel Marcelin, DB Amari Wallace, DB Tim Merritt and CB Chris Ewald.

I’d have to go back (or wait for @lindend to do it) and look at past BBQ results but it feels like it’s been overplayed every year. Not by the staff but by the fans putting too much stock into it

Gaby said Scroggins told him he is not attending. Had not heard on Melendez I am assuming as he doesn’t have him on list and didn’t comment on the ? about him.

Just saw Scroggins is not going to Auburn for Big Cat weekend on their On3 site. Gaby said he isn’t coming her so maybe he is just staying home.

I didn’t know kids were allowed ot stay home anymore. Seems like the high level recruits are expected to be on some campus every weekend to show how much they care.

Who knows. Can’t remember where else he was recruited to or maybe he is saying he isn’t going but is. That cat will get out of the bag somehow if he does. Doesn’t seem like the type of kid to do that at all though

I agree. Pay me $10k to go eat some BBQ, have some fun, and listen to what ya gotta say. Not that it’d change my mind

Can we get some clarification on if we're really throwing a BBQ like a proper BBQ or if they're grilling burgers and such because there's a big difference.
