DE Herbert Scroggins IIi commits to Miami

The Canes landed one of the top targets on their defensive board with the commitment of DE Herbert Scroggins III. As first reported three months ago on CanesInSight, Miami has prioritized the 6’3, 235-pound Savannah native as an impact stand-up rusher.

A product of Benedictine Military School, Scroggins is a high academic (3.8 GPA), athletic (leading rebounder on his basketball team) and productive rusher who starred for one of the top teams in Georgia. Scroggins chose Miami over Auburn.

Miami now has 14 commits in the 2025 class: QB Luke Nickel, RB Girard Pringle, TE Brock Schott, TE Luka Gilbert, OT Jaden Wilkerson, OT Demetrius Campbell, OG Max Buchanan, OG TK Muex, DE Herbert Scroggins, LB Elijah Melendez, LB Ezekiel Marcelin, DB Amari Wallace, DB Tim Merritt and CB Chris Ewald.

Tbh I think u were looking for Liberty City El lol. I believe he changed it to Menmon or something similar. I wasn't familiar with this kid until he committed but I like the tape. I can see him playing in a role similar to what we have Malik Bryant playing.

@Memnon when I look at this kid, I see he's been very well coached. He has a deep tool box of moves to go through. He has good hand placement, footwork needs a lil help,(what high school kid doesn't)he's very physical, but I don't see the athleticism & explosiveness (that others keep mentioning) for him to thrive AS A JACK... I see a Sam backer out of him & potentially a dominant one. BUT if feld can develop his explosiveness and work on his get off in a serious way, than yeah I see one **** of a jack. & I was only asking you brother cause I respect that you know the game. So I was curious ur thoughts on him and if I'm missing something cause I only watched limited tape. To me he seems very methodical about it opposed to flying off the line

That's what this kid is excellent at…The way he bends/contorts his body (pause), and even how lightning quick that spin move was the other clip.

Reminds me of Booker Pickett from last class…Natural pass rushers, imo…Although they are built a little differently.
