Your bringing up CU's Dline while leaving the fact that Sanders portal A LOT of players year to year, so maybe they had better players the year Lewis arrived

That's fair.
However, bottom-line the 2024 DLine performed at a higher level than prior year and, as we all know, this is a bottom-line business.
There are examples of teams or specific unit(s) of team having very good talent and not producing.
We know a little about these scenarios.
This thing about Mario hiring his people is overblown.
Most head coaches want to ensure the assistants are loyal to him first.

Mario's hiring and staff working together and/or solving clear problems is 1000% fair game given his first 3 seasons at Miami and the amount of staff turnover and scapegoating away from the HC.

Hopefully he does something with the DT unit. Still not a believer in Taylor though as a coach. Edge unit was just as bad as the DTs last year.

It is fair game indeed.
But I judge each hiring on its own individual merits and as of now this looks like a good hire.
We'll see.

I think the MariBro-isms or questions come from -- Is Corey Hetherman hiring Lewis anywhere other than at Miami? And if no, which is 100% likely, then why is he a good hire for us?

I am a parent and would not appreciate foul mouth Damion Lewis cursing his brains out to make his point. Verbally he seems like an extremely limited person. He was a great player for UM.

Go ahead and add pronouns to your username, bud

I may be the lone dissenter. He's only been coaching for 5 years. I personally would like more seasoned coaches but I'll hope he's in the "up and coming" category. DT is such a vital position. If you want to compete at high level, really need talent and development at that spot. I'd probably be ok with younger coaches at RB and WR but I feel like DT play is more technique based (but what do I know).

I thought JT was going to handle the DL on his own?

Regardless, hope it works out. Let’s Go, Canes!

Spring practice should be fun. New coaches and some new, talented players.

Meh. Not a cusser but it’s football. The only coach that I’ve ever known to honestly not cuss is Tony Dungy.

Disclaimer: I do cuss when golfing sometimes

Love the hire! Truly underrated Cane and from all accounts a solid person.
