Last year plenty of our commits went on OV's after committing so I'd just relax a bit. These kids get treated like celebs on these trips with 5 star hotel, amazing food, extensive 1 on 1 time with coaches and current players, and coeds lined up to suck your pee pee. I'd go on all my visits too.

We are in a whooooole different world than we were 25-30 years ago….not sure kids want to come to a place that’s getting beat by 45 on nat’l TV every time they step up in class…

Not sure any kid looks at a 10-3 record and says well one win came against BCU and one win came against app. St..etc.

They look at the 10-3 record and it show’s 10 wins…..not 4 good wins,3 decent wins and 3 wins against ****** teams…

I’m all for playing the Bama’s ,UGA’s and OSU’s of the CFB world but we can’t come cLose to competing with them right now so why schedule them and lose top recruits to them that have a choice between us and them.Who you think they’re choosing 95% of the time?

Mario has us heading to the anyone, anytime anywhere type team we once were but we are at least 2 years away from that point.I’d rather have wins right now against ANYONE than play a top team and get stomped as has been the scenario for seems like forever except the Notre Dump game…

Right now give me wins…win and people will show up…doesn’t matter who we’re beating …jmo
You cant flip the switch on scheduling.
OOC games are scheduled years in advance.
In 2017, sitting at #2, that ‘21 game with Bama seemed pretty appetizing.
Fools gold at the time I know…but we didn’t know then.

I see your point, but I’m on the side of Always scheduling good teams.
What good is a hollow10-2 record only to be blasted in the expanded CFBPO anyway?
Mediocre teams with deceiving records get exposed eventually.

Had that edit not been scrutinized I wouldn't even have noticed. There were so many "commitment edits" put out for Chance I don't think many even looked closely at any of them........

I agree with most of your points but I’d take a hollow 10-2 plus blasted in the playoffs 10/10 over being a 7-5 or 6-6 team that plays tough against the Bamas of the world. Much easier to sell recruits on 10-2 and a trip to the playoffs than it is to sell hey we hung in the game with Bama IMO.

What’s he like ?
I don’t know jack about comps.
All I Know is that this place was nowhere near as happy to get AR as it is with chance.

Many said that AR’s money position should be db.

I remember listening to a podcast back then (can’t remember which one).
They were interviewing someone connected to palm beach hs football.
He said that AR broke a receiving record that had stood for over 20 years in that county. He averaged like 18 yards in high school.
He said he broke those records while playing both ways some games.
AR was a smooth effortless runner with a pretty long stride that many confused as slow.

After watching recruiting for a while I believe more in evaluations than rankings.
We say that Saban evaluates at an elite level. But even he misses.
But Bama Tennessee and auburn wanted AR bad. Some said that AR was the top receiver on bamas board.

Got to AR’s recruiting profile and look at the last few months of his timeline. Bama came down to see him like 3 times during that period including in homes by both Saban and the OC. Same with auburn.

In contrast with pope who committed to us over Bama way before nsd.

Now idk if we won that recruitment or Bama went with D Smith instead.

Now it’s early and Chance is a marked man and he’s gonna get recruited harder now. We will see how hard the big dogs go after him and how he plays his senior season.

But on tape I still don’t see AR.
And that’s not a knock on him. I think he’s one of the best receivers down here.
But I’m done comparing any incoming freshman to a dude that proved it in P5 and was getting day one predictions as a freshman.

I wouldn’t even compare jSmith to AR rk.

AR balled in the most boring and predictable offense. And his coach was Dugans.

They’re not even that good anyway. I’ve seen other put out way better edits
All his edits look the same to me with that same ****** font I don't know why everyone is on his **** for one

Good call. Didn’t see that. That’s a slight on us for sure.

Is that the narrative with these coaches are dropping instead of facilities now? I heard EJ Manuel comment last night on the broadcast that he was strongly considering Miami but got there and saw the facilities and decided not to come. Not sure how true that is but I know we get nit picked on everything. I guess the new top narrative is about our crowd size in an NFL stadium when we have been mediocre for years (now with facilities upgrades).

Truth be told, this team wins, that place is packed for decently competitive games. That’s how the “city” of South Florida is…crazy for a winner. We’ve got to figure out how to turn the corner.
Manuel then went on to praise the newer facilities which, to me, is a lot more important for kids now as opposed to when he was being recruited 13-14 years ago.

Fair good stuff bro

Got it.
We’re only talking one or two good OOC games anyway (like ND and uF next year), so the difference wouldn’t be 3 or 4 games.

IMO as we head towards an expanded playoff, kids will be looking more at the playoff teams.
In my last post, I should have said “if” we get to the playoffs with a hollow 10-2 record.
My worry with easing up on the schedule is that it will play against us come committee time.

I guess, to your point, if good teams are scheduled and we’re not that good, we’ll lose them anyway.
But if we are…

He sure did. Now if he can only make Hayes Fawcett not slight the U in his edits by filling a stadium 1/5 full of fans, we’d be in business.

D Smith was 17 not 18. We beat Bama for Pope, he was just a miss. The ability was there, he didn’t have the drive to get better.

Plus we didn’t have the coaches and the culture and S&C to get him better. You can say that about just about every guy that came through Miami’s doors last 25 years smh

Miss me with that… plenty of kids have gone to the bamas of the world and still failed to live up to their billing.

That young man just didn’t want to push himself and compete when those around him continued to elevate their games with hard work and drive.

Bro, lol…C’mon. Jimbo was 26-10 his first 3 yrs, including 3-0 in bowls. They went 8-4 in 2021, one yr removed from going 9-1 w/ a NY6 bowl victory, the first in 10 yrs. You know where A&M’s 5-7 2022 season led them in recruiting? 12th. By far his worst, full class.
My point is u can’t & u won’t, period. Idgaf who the coach is. Miami is going to need to show something this season, & it’s not something that’s hyperbolic; I have several lil homies in the class of ‘24 that I’ve been trying to gas since they became freshmen. If u don’t think that 5-7 season, & how that 5-7 season unfolded didn’t put the fear of God in the youngins from 2024, u r just being naive & a Homer.

**** near every coach gets that 1st yr bump no matter what the record is b/c what u can sell is hopes & dreams. After that first yr, if they see the same chit, not only will the opps negatively recruit against u, blue chip kids start saying chit, too.

We need a decent 23 season; ain’t no more honeymoon period.
Preach. Someone but me finally saying this. These guys just don't get it. Miami has a different set of rules. We lose big this year we are going to have a drop of in 24.
