Sports wasn't nearly as competitive either in SC it was either ball or kingpin mentality in Utah it was for fun! I scored 56 in a Allstar game in bball an was the only freshman that lettered varsity. In SC me Mike(USCe) an Spank (Troy univ, and Coastal Carolina) played RB put up 50 every game

I can respect this heey u never know. I just think we were loving Cormanis HS film (the coaches that is) then they saw the college tape vs D1 and passed. If that makes sense, because our coaches are going to miss just like Kirby and Saban etc do.

The ability to land proven college players via the portal has changed my outlook on recruiting. I no longer care AS MUCH about high school kids as I once did, because the turnover rate is very high.

A solid mix is needed. You can't abandon high schoolers. But, they aren't as appealing to me as a proven college player.

This is the world of pay-for-play.

They have to be really good though. There are a bunch of proven jags who hit the portal. Although proven that word really don’t mean **** if they cheeks. IMO

Proven meaning productive, meaning they have lived up to their star rating (or exceeded it)...

Players like that hit the portal all the time, and players like that make it much easier for me to give less of a **** about high school recruiting - and the drama attached to it.

Just hit both as hard as you can (hs + portal). With Mario’s recruiting chops we’ll be good. It’s nice to not worry about recruiting.

I only see that at certain positions. For me, U must get elite DB's, DL and probably OL out of high school. Its hard to get them in the portal. QBs and some other position, you have more chances of getting a good one.

This is why I said, "A solid mix is needed. You can't abandon high schoolers." However, I still stand on what I said. High school recruits aren't as appealing as proven (i.e. productive) college players. Just the way it is, in my eyes at least.

Some positions are definitely harder to land out of the portal. No doubt about it. i never suggested abandoning HS recruiting. Just don't find it as appealing with the portal now being recruiting tool.

Fong said he expects him in Tenn class
fong likely aint speak to merrits hc.

his interview let know the inside of that recruitment a bit we kind of got an established relationship with the guy.

if anything he seemed to nudge him this way and said he was a miami type player. I would be more scared of the bama teams later i think.

How is tenn looking for this szn?.

Best qb in that cycle imo, if the game is slow for him in college he will be legit. If it’s too fast he’s ****ed and he can’t read things he done for, pause. U never know with qbs until u throw them into the fire.
Definitely has the most tools, like you said it all depends between the ears....but hes got unreal arm talent and is a good athlete
