I have no problem with this take being we got a plug and play guy in brantley. This kid is a ball of clay that teams feel they can mold. 3 years left and is a big cb and said to be fast and fluid. From what I saw he was cheeks and his pff grades was cheeks but I understand the long term play
of he has speed that’s a up grade from most of our dbs. Don’t matter how good you cover when you can’t run with a te or a pulling for half our dbs Powell was the slowest db I ever seen at Miami and number 7 and the one who got hurt couldn’t tackle for **** or cover for ****

This redshirt freshman has not earned All-American honors and has barely been developed, therefore he is a bust that Miami should never recruit, and he should be playing Division III if he is luckly, because I saw a video one time...

...is what half of CIS will be saying...

Here’s what I’ll say on this one:

I haven’t seen Karnley play a game, just like 98% of the people in this thread. And I certainly haven’t seen the coach’s tape. Those that have rate Karnley highly (he’s the #6 CB in the Portal), but that’s only their opinion.

Let’s watch the guy play extended snaps at Miami before we start a narrative. The negative, uninformed BS doesn’t do anyone any good.

DJ Ivey is a perfect example. He had a bad mental mistake against Georgia Tech and the narrative began that he stunk. He heard the noise, his confidence sank, and it began to affect his performance.

I saw him on Greentree and said he was an NFL corner. People treated me like I was insane. They said he wasn’t even FBS. Of course, he is now an NFL corner.

The coaches and Ivey himself deserve blame for him not performing to his talent at Miami. But the noise didn’t help, and it was especially unfair to a kid who worked harder than anyone and loved the Canes.

I don’t know if Karnley will follow in Ivey’s footsteps as an NFL corner. But I sure don’t want a repeat of that experience. Let’s watch the guy actually play extended snaps before telling the story of his career.

Not me. I call it like I see and come back to own it when I’m wrong. See below:

I did hype up Charles Brantley though. And Ethan O’Connor. And Cam Calhoun. For those that want to pretend I would say it regardless of who we land or whatever narrative y’all have. I’m just realistic about who we’re taking.
You’re one of a few , I called Pickett Lakeland boy 2.0

Brantley, Poyser, Karnley, Lucas, Shii who after that?

Harris actually has good speed it’s just he is bad at everything else. This karnley kid they say is pretty fast. I could be wrong but I believe somebody said he was a 10.5 guy

I think he’ll be better than Cormani. As far as I know his head is actually screwed onto his body.

More like Jason Marshall if he plays corner. Solid but by no means a deserving 5 star at the position.

Let’s say you add O’Connor and Lucas

If Karnley is the 4th guy in the class, I don’t have a problem with that lol. The perception of him on here versus his offers/rankings is interesting tho.

Well, not going to get my expectations up for this one.

Show me the “tape” lol

Zenitz doesn’t know his *** from a hole in the ground evaluating talent. He’s a reporter just like Andrew Ivins and Wiltfong.

I was the first to say he was trash on here. @Memnon has said the same. Soooo…
FWIW, that’s not Zenitz. It’s a former college personnel guy (worked for Chris Peterson when they signed the class with all the first rounders) who runs the 247 Portal rankings.

For the record, I watched about 250 of his 380+ snaps from TV copies.

Probably saw about 50 more but couldn’t see enough due to camera.

My opinion is far from uninformed or guessing from some twitter clip. Im not DB guru but I feel pretty confident he’s a) not good and b) not going to get good coaching that he’ll need to reach this “ceiling” he supposedly has from the coaches currently in this program.
