DB recruiting has been abysmal, as D$ pointed out, since Golden left. I was hoping things would change with Mario, but I have yet to see it. Bigger budget, same results.

Not excuses. We didnt overpay for stubbs but paid up for Moore. Nix I was using an example for how our def hurt us with a kid.
Merrit was NOT coming. for weeks if not months everyone said he wasnt a real commit.

I'd legitimately argue it has to be the best, and provide 6-8 starters that are difference makers. Mario has never proven he can develop talent, so I truly believe we need impact players at the positions below.

I was just about to post, that it blows my mind that we’ve had such a tough stretch of recruiting DBs, the equivalent of Iowa sucking at OL recruiting, but when DC and DB coaches suck that’s what you get

I’m not as finicky on portal rankings because they don’t adjust off of high school numbers.

“Best” is normally subjective. Top 5 is good enough to declare elite and you can sift through the garbage that’s bolstering other classes “see Cormani or any other high profile transfer that didn’t get adequate playing time elsewhere”.
