Assessing this recruiting class

Hey snowflake cuck boy, who poured hot sauce on your butt plug? Tons of clowns in here crying for 8 win seasons. You must be new here. Now, take your C-cups and have a seat.

@JG13 didn't pour it. He knows how painful that is from experience.

I’ve had it with posters being attacked for having a critical opinion on the facts that doesn’t align with the narrative of the status quo. Discuss things on the substance and leave the attacks off the board so people can participate freely without insult
exactly
attack the idea not the poster
no need for that
generally personal attacks are when your arguement is no good

Need at minimum a top 10 portal class while also being #1 in the ACC. That would get us #1 recruiting class and portal class in the ACC.

Another year of no excuses to win the ACC for Mario, Best recruiting in the ACC rankings wise. Now prove it on the field. Prove to all that he can get it done. No excuses for the coach when we out talent everyone in our conference.

If he fails 2 years in a row then we know what we need to know.

For sure, there are a million moving parts here, I just think from a really macro perspective, we literally just had the #1 offense in the country and couldn't make it to Charlotte. Ideally, absolutely, give me the #1 offense again and a much better defense. That'd be super cool. But it's beyond unlikely we have the #1 offense again, so if I had to choose, give me a better defense, secondary specifically, and let's ride. I like the talent on offense. Put someone competent behind center and we should be at least OK.

I think offense is a much easier fix in general than defense. If we have a limited pot of money have to choose between one elite QB or multiple good defensive players, I say take the elite QB and get a better defensive coordinator. See what the DC can do. We already saw before on both sides of the ball how much difference a coordinator can make. Often mocked Manny Diaz basically performed a miracle on a D'Nofrio squad that was horrendous. It think if we try to aim for a "balanced" team next year through the portal, and we are going to get a nicely balanced record of 6-6. All the NIL money needs to go to a top QB, and I think we can still have a top 5 offense. Adding several one year rentals at defense might make the D marginally better but won't really matter all that much if the DC stays the same, and then you have the same problem again next year. And most importantly, I think the defense has to be built from the inside out. We can add more ballers in the secondary through he portal but you don't typically find top DTs in the portal. And that's going to keep the defense from being significantly better. Of all the misses in the class, that's the one that I think is going to end up hurting the most.

Lastly, we just saw literally every 5 single star in HS recruiting go to the p2. Wouldn't be surprised if a similar thing happens with the portal. All the top rated portal talent ends up going P2, everyone else fights over the scraps.

Just means Scott, Jones, and Blount have to all hit. Especially, Scott and Blount because they got paid big money. And JHorton needs to step up. Looks like the light came on for Moten. So thats 5 DTs right there who need to take the next step and that room should be fine. Feels like we only played 3 DTs in the rotation this year most of the time anyway. (Barrow, Mesidor and Clark) Wasnt until Barrow got injured that Moten started to come on late in the year.
I hear you but you just can’t expect to go 3/3 on a class of DTs. And Horton is always injured.

It's really a bad sign when your secondary was so bad this season and there's immediate opportunities for top CBs/Safeties to get some PT along with good NIL and that's the best DB class they could put together.

The OT/DT class is also concerning. Projects all around who may not pan out.....hoping i'm wrong there but 2 positions you need depth and i'm just not seeing it. I would expect a guy like Mario to prioritize those positions every year and it just hasn't happened. To beat the big boys in CFB, you need studs on both lines.

We need at least 3 starting caliber defensive backs. This is who we've landed at DB from the portal in the last 3 years.

D'yoni Hill
Terry Roberts
Davante Brown
Jadias Richard
Mish Powell
Savion Riley
Jaden Davis
Daryl Porter.
Demetrius Freeney was a JUCO

Its not that we can't/won't land multiple starters. Its just not very realistic.

This is why I hate saying "we refused to overpay so we can spend in the portal."

Relying on the portal means we HAVE TO overpay.

I'm not even trying to bash Mario because I know he sees it as a risky strategy too.
Imagine what this ****show cost compared to just spending serious $ on 2 guys

The only issue I have here is the “
Defense didn’t look good “ that should make high school kids feel they can get on the field immediately. It seems like this is a negative only towards Miami. Through history kids say “ Miami is loaded I wanna play” or “ they don’t look strong blah blah” it’s insane miami
Couldn’t have recruited some more dogs on defense. In particular at DT, backer, and safety. Oh and no physicality from
Fitz? Receiver? This may look like Lance Leggett all over again

You don't win championships with classes that Mario is bringing in. He doesn't sniff out diamonds in the rough like Butch did. He goes for players everyone wants and when he doesn't finish, we will stay at an 8-9 win team.

I would've been surprised if Luka develops into a Jason Peter's type. Started out at TE in college, but his size and NFL projection screams future LT the pros.

I’m not paying the suck tax for Stubbs or meritt…

Hanks oh yeah for sure he’s a day one starter at corner.

Having said that find some real day one starters via the portal and hammer the 26 class for their replacements. NO VANDY DBs!!!!!!!

100% with all this. Honestly, id pay more for hanks that Pickett. I think hanks is a 5 star and potentially first round draft pick.
im not gonna the because he went to UF. love this kid.

what are you talking about 2024 is the kind of class that gets you next level, this one is bad.
2024 was a top 3 class by some accounts? how much higher can you go?

I agree with this. It wasn’t the master plan going in, but it was the right decision at the end.
Does Nix belong in the same comparison as the other two? Merritt was leveraging the whole time and Stubbs, by outside perspective, got a huge bag dropped on him (this would be the potential knee jerk reaction overpay).

While certainly Nix got a nice deal from UO, thought he had one here as well; point being, are you able to say whether the guarantees he asked for were not bottom line dollar sign but rather personnel/staffing?

And I’m asking that as someone who has defended Guidry most of the year (Cuse really ****ed me off though the whole subject a debate for another thread).

Exactly my sentiment. We've been dog **** for years and remember when we would be happy with 8 win seasons. We have a banner year with 10 wins and exciting gamedays and cucks on here think the program is in shambles and the staff can't "identify talent." Cuck level within the fanbase is next level. People need to man up.
You sure you got the right college program? Cuz ain’t nobody here ever happy with anything short of a NC, me included. Suspect.

I'm going to get hate for this comment, but from a strategic standpoint, the staff did the right thing. We could have overpaid for guys like Stubbs, Nix, and Merit just to make it look nice on the 247 recruiting rankings website. Instead, we will use this money for elite portal additions and the 26 class. At the end of the day, I believe it's the right move
Everyone says this and before the portal even opens we are apparently honing in on a washout QB from Oklahoma who was benched for a true freshman and has not history of high level production.

The only time I am ever concerned about this staff is when we are hearing defeatist rumors and that is what we are hearing rn about the portal. That historically has meant they are in cover their *** mode

bell? where is he projected as a first round pick?
I was particularly impressed with how Cam Ward went “from a practice squad no draftable QB in '23 to Heisman Finalist, ACC POTY,no question first round dp
