I think the NCAA will be shocked at the public outcry. This is more about college athletics and less about Miami specifically. I'm confident Shalala will have good lawyers in place. Does anybody think that the NCAA will say no more bowl bans but significant scholarship reductions.

i originally thought we lose 18-21 scholly's I am down to 6-9 after recent events

Donna demanded nothing more. It's pretty unprecedented. She has to have the goods on them or else I can't see her going hard like that.

first rule of business is never accept the first offer...donna asked for time serving just to get the ball rolling no way we don't settle if they NCAA ask us for 6 scholarships right now

I don't think PUNICANE is nuts, just look at the extreme these people went to bury us. They put their jobs and the NCAA's integrity on the line to try to destroy Miami. Meanwhile the $EC gets away with far worse things then we ever committed. Problem is if they investigate one SEC school, then they gotta do them all. Thats one big can of worms.

I like your mode of thinking. I've been saying this for 2 years!!

our self imposed penalties are pretty unprecedented. we cooperated so we wouldn't get screwed over yet we still have been punished as bad if not worse than the schools who didn't play ball with the NCAA. With the joke that the NCAA investigation has become there is no reason to have additional penalties. Add to that the fact that so far the allegations that they have supposedly "proven" include a couple rides in a car, a meal or two, an airplane ticket that had nothing to do with Shapiro, and some personal loan from Shapiro to a coach (paid back and nothing to do with the University really), our punishments seem to be greater than the crime.

agreed

and the NCAA wont just roll over, that would set a precedence that they cant afford that. They will require UM to make some concessions, hopefully very minimal ones, but they will not just say "ok Donna, we're done"

Gret piece by Cote. Want more of the national media to blow this up and not just the local people.

Poor Manny must be miserable he has to write Pro-UM stuff now

there is no chance that they just call the whole thing off, but there is no reason we can't get in front of the COI, show what a fraud most of the allegations are, and prove that the punishments we have served are greater than or equal to the charges we have received.

Sec conspiracy would not shock me at all.

Ohio state, usc, miami all investigated. Funny that all 3 have won national championships in the past 13 years.

Yup. How intredasting that the NCAA goes harsh on the two private universities other than ND that are truly relevant in FB. OSU* is hard to call either way, because they pretty much stepped in it and didn't get that hard penalties and got a quick resolution. Not sure there was a conspiracy against them.

Paul Dee pretty much ****ed USC for not being cooperative, and having a one man compliance department. Tressell got caught lying red handed. I can't see this angle being the conspiracy.

How is it that this dude Beast sells himself as a supporter and fan of the U

just because something wasn't in the NOA, doesn't mean it didn't happen... #justsaying

ok so going through some of the comments on here, i saw that some were actually concerned w President Shalala's comments towards the NCAA in terms of it being too much. Thats a joke, THE NCAA IS OUT TO ***** US and judging by the barry jackson article and Shalalas statments, its a fact. She responded at the right time and it is what many of you wanted her to do a while ago even tho that was not the right time. she is justified in her remarks and has the support of the entire country, which is what she wouldnt have had before. if some are still complaining about shalala and her support for athletics or her feelings on this case, then you need to shut up and go away. she proved countless times that she is a supporter of athletics and again w her statement last night.

They spent 2.5 years on some drinks and a meal at Benihana.

They spent 10 minutes on 200K to a star player at Auburn.

BTW, that ****tard Robinson's piece did a **** load of damage. The public still thinks most of that **** piece was true.

I've been in and out all day...but, just to rehash.

We got hit with LOIC, even though our two head coaches at the time, Shannon and Haith, got cleared of pretty much all wrongdoing. And this after the NCAA has talked about making Head Coaches responsible for the acts of their assistants.

Head Coaches AND Athletic Directors... mind-numbing.

I believe the number is now up to 42. 42 UF football players have been arrested from the time Urban Meyer took over until now. How does that not qualify as LOIC? Where is the oversight on the players from the athletic department? More importantly, why hasn't the NCAA investigated that program? Illegal possession and use of firearms, multiple drug related offenses, larceny, assault and battery and not a peep from the NCAA. Alleged yacht rides and visits to strip clubs pale in comparisson to recurring and legitimate violations of federal, state and local laws.

I think the NCAA throws in the LOIC just so they hand down hard punishments.

Institutional control over the football program starts with the athletic director...this is why Miami was shocked that Paul Dee was not interviewsd.. how can you say there is a LOIC when you don't even interview the first person in that line?
