Im sorry but i need to see him against elite defenders in pads. I also need to see his 40 time before I can judge. Look at popes highlights he's wrecking the best defenders in the country i need to see this with him before I make an assumption

Man c'mon. LOL

Who said he cant commit? Seems like the issue with this kid was his interest level. Staff putting in time to address that.

There's a long way to NSD. And priorities will change over time. But all indications would seem to be Austin is a kid who top programs will continue to recruit, and who could easily turn out to be as good as or better than some kids currently committed here and elsewhere at the WR spot.

Pretty sure everyone with knowledge, including Pete, has said that they're holding the last WR spot for Williams for at least a little while. If that's the case, then none of the other guys like Moore or Austin have actual offers. If there's 1 spot left at WR, and they're holding a spot for a guy higher on their board, then logic tells you that the lower guys don't have actual offers.
Maybe Pete really knows that along with all those others. But my recollection is folks who claim to know the precise priorities and algorithms of our recruiting boards have tended to be wrong often enough over the years. Too often, perhaps. Pete hasn't been perfect either.

In any case, I'm not sure there's really a tension here. What seems clear is that they're not sure Austin is that into us, and he certainly doesn't sound like a near term commitment possibility based on his own process. So it isn't all that inconsistent to say they'd love a commitment from X. Williams, irrespective of how they'd rank them next January if both were available. That they continue to spend the time with Austin and his family tells you they want to develop him as an option. What they'll do if there's one spot and two kids next winter is unknowable right now.

I just wanna see it before i believe it I'm tired of stars at the opening doing 40 jukes to get open. I will wait till i see him with pads. in the beginning i doubted jeff thomas but then i saw game film and the under armor game and it changed my mind. I knew jeff was insanely talented but i doubted him a bit cuz he did like 5 moves to get open in camps. not doubting him just wanna see him in a game

In 12 games for North Broward Prep in 2016, Austin ran the ball 46 times for 454 yards and six touchdowns. He added 41 receptions for 1,021 yards and 13 touchdowns. On the defensive side of the ball, Austin made 21 tackles (16 solo tackles, five assist tackles) and 3.0 tackles for a loss.

this academic savage averaged 25 yards per catch . He and amari carter can compete on the football field and in the classroom

Michigan offers 2018 4-star WR Kevin Austin - Maize n Brew

Just picture the kid in 3 years.

He'll be 6'3" 220lbs running a sub-11 100m and snapping off routes like he does in those videos.

Amen. Love the way he moves. Great hands. Finesse and speed. DO WANT.

Yeah, I think I'd take a kid with Andre Johnson-like measurables. The kid is a physical freak, with very good speed, soft hands and is sought after by other big time programs........What's not to like?

What camp film were you watching of Jeff Thomas dancing to get open? He was very clean with his routes in camp film that I saw. He actually was the opposite of what you are claiming unless I missed something.

Here we go...not once was the kid dancing and taking 5 moves to get open.

4:01 mark here he skins Surtain Jr with a clean route.

Completely agree. Jeff Thomas can create a 3 yard gap with a head fake. He's that fast, quick and smooth and he scares the sht our of DBs. I believe we got the best WR in the country in Jeff Thomas.

Do you want to see dancing and garbage? Go to the :54 second mark of video 2 and watch Tyrell Shavers. LMAO@trying that in a football game.

Same here.

If he was still at Western, I'd be all in but his level of comp that he's murdering is the absolute worst.

Foolish to compare him to Jeff Thomas and even more foolish to say Thomas had routes that won't work in game. Jeff Thomas is on AR82 level IMO, in a sense that he is a guy that can take over a game at any given moment

****, Thomas ate Surtain up in that video. Closed that cushion and got ghost. Surtain couldn't turn fast enough.

Jeff Thomas was the most explosive player in the country last year. What he did to surtain was ridiculous.... my god...
