‘26 QB Dereon Coleman commits to Miami

Miami has its QB of the future. 2026 blue-chip QB Dereon Coleman of Jones High School (Orlando) announced that he will be a Cane.

The 6’1, 165 gunslinger is no stranger to competition, as he beat out Elite 11 senior QB Trever Jackson as a sophomore and outshining multiple highly-regarded quarterbacks at Miami’s recent camp.

Coleman completed 63% of his passes for 2,236 yards, 16 TDs and 6 INTs as a sophomore. He also added 4 TDs on the ground.

He is Miami’s third commitment of the ‘26 class, joining WR Malachi Toney and LB Jordan Campbell.

He is gonna move up. Great arm and only has played half of season so far with 2 years to improve and get bigger. His arm talent is undeniable, i like his ball placement, pause. For me these Qbs is if they have the mental make up to not crumble and also diagnose things quickly. Thats the unknown

Yeah Bryce has such an elite command of the offense and of the game in general it just took him next level. Hope this kid works like Bryce did

We’ve seen a lot of South Florida QBs like Cato go to smaller programs and ball out I would love to see that change. If we are gonna portal for elite QBs instead of pay huge for 5 star high school guys then I’d love to see us take a few more chances on the guys that maybe don’t have crazy measurables but just produce high level down here

Got to throw this out there. Dereon is an Itty Bitty Plant City product. Transferred to Jones cause PC coaches was with the BS. Won the starting job as a freshman but was constantly subbed in and out for another freshman....
