McCarthy and Corn hanging out

Colin was a underrated player during his time here. He caught the Kenny Phillips syndrome.

Colin, KP, Beason, Campbell,Shields,Myers......every player over the last 10 years was an "underrated player" here... thats what happens when you don't develop talent. Those times are over though
What does it mean that we didnt develop theor talent if they all are very good players at the next level?

Development is a label with little meaning. Guys look 'undeveloped' when they arent put in the position to make plays.

Campbell and Phillips were 1st team all acc and 2nd team all americans here the fans think they underachieved here smh they were great players on sorry teams.

Agreed, but when "talent" excels at the next level and didn't here, it means that they weren't taught, coached and conditioned properly here which is whats done when you develop talent.
You're skipping over the most obvious factor -- those kids werent put in a position to make plays, because the schemes, game plans and play calling stunk. That doesnt mean they werent 'developed' individually, however. The NFL saw the talent in those guys. And while our S&C was subpar, those guys werent particularly underdeveloped in s&c either. The real problem was with guys who didnt self-motivate, and with DL.

Phillips didn't get any better throughout his entire college career here, he had a good freshman year and showed no improvements over the next couple years. And Campbell actually got worse from his sophomore to junior year. Hence no development!

You're confusing looking worse with getting worse. That whole scheme, game plan and play calling thing has to be accounted for. Campbell, I think looked much better under Palermo. That was the difference -- Clint Hurtt was an awful DL corch. It impacts the whole DL. KP just never got any respect for his contributions at UM. He was unfairly compared to Reed, Taylor, Rolle et al. But KP has had a solid NFL career, and in the same vein -- just a solid lunch-pail type dude.

Collin showing Joaquin how our alumni suppose to roll!

Maybe he can show Sileo too

impossible! BIG BIG difference, Joaquin really loves the U, Sileo not so much

Sileo isn't family. He wanted to go somewhere else. They didn't show him love so he "fell" into a great place at Miami. He was outshined and so he's butthurt. Quit paying attention to the guy, you are lowering yourself way below his class.

Sick picture. Colin is a true Cane and very underrated. He was a beast when healthy. As Canes fans we need to separate player from team, for example Spence is an all-time LBer here but he played on ****** teams.

Mccarthy had a big sr year...........dude absolutely KILLS things when he hits...he had to get comfortable with the position.

In the league i personally saw him live against my Dolphins....he was ALLL over the field...he's a big timer an all pro type lb....considering he doesnt have beast @ dt in front of him but he still makes plays.

I always felt McCarthy didn't get enough love while he was here.

I guess when the program as a whole is mess, starting with the leadership, it's hard to give anyone their props.

Sileo bounced around from school to school, only played one year at Miami. Almost played ineligible his second year which could have cost us the '87 NC. He was apparently trouble everywhere he went. I heard a story once, and I don't know if it was true, about a "dispute" he had with his coach at MD, Bobby Ross. Somebody should try to get the real facts on the story. I don't want to say more about what I heard. It was over 25 years ago, and maybe not a very reliable source.

hey c@ckbag, solid they def were, ProBowl caliber they were not! Beason turned into a monster in the NFL, he was good here.

Years prior when we were developing out talent, Nate Webster, DJ, Vilma, Morgan were all monsters here and in the pros
