FSU doesn't want his commitment just for the optics. They want him in their class. They've been recruiting him for a long time. They're paying top dollar for kids to commit, and this kid is being pressured to commit now by people around him even though he's said he's not exactly ready. So if you walk into a coach's office and say "How much you wanna give me to commit to you on Saturday?", and the coach says a number you're happy with, then you commit to that school. FSU is hoping that commitment sticks through ESD.

What our guys are saying is he doesn't put pen to paper until December. Committing anywhere but here isn't great for us, obviously. Obviously you'd rather him commit here now, stay committed, and sign. But if you're trying to find a silver lining here, people are saying that this is a rushed commitment and he's being paid handsomely to make it. Not exactly a commitment to the school he feels strongest about, on his own timeline. So it may not be as solid a commitment as most are, hence the optimism for everyone involved, not just Miami, to flip him from anywhere he commits to on Saturday.
I think what concerns me about saying its a rushed/bought/forced decision is what it means for his mom. She's heavily involved in his decision and supposed to be in our corner. So if the money can sway her opinion now, what's that going to mean for later?

Tbh, I don't buy the FSU smoke because of her. I don't think she's having any of that ****. But I've been wrong before. We'll find out soon enough though.

From ON3

Patterson plans to keep his recruitment open regardless of his decision Saturday and will visit several schools, although he said it will be difficult for him to flip away from the school he commits to. He is yet to take any official visits and does not have any official visits currently scheduled, but he plans to take “two or three” this fall.

If he’s being honest, then it ain’t over come Saturday imo.

I'm committed but open means I'll take the bag and keep looking.

Interesting some program‘s NIL groups are paying up front. I don‘t doubt this, but wouldn’t this be a violation of paying a recruit attend a specific school? Unless committing is technically not the same. I suppose you couldn’t be guilty of paying a player to attend a specific school if in the end he never attended that school.

I’d love to see one of these agreements, or are these payments what ‘bags’ evolved into?
They NCAA is a toothless tiger, and every program knows it.
They aren’t going to enforce anything anymore.

The old bag game has been around for decades and it’s still working today. NIL didn’t kill the bag game. Players now, just get paid via a collective (legally) and bags under the table by boosters.

If we are unwilling or unable to do the latter, then our NIL better be twice as good as the rest of the field, if not get ready for classes filled with 3 stars and boarder line 4 star kids. The kids that demand big money won’t be coming here.

lol ok. so everyone Miami is after is paying them to commit to their school but Miami isn't doing that with the recruits they have committed? got it!

Miami isn't following that formula whether you want to believe it or not. Plenty of school's don't. Most are desperate and poor recruiters.

Exactly. Lots of people talking big here and criticizing Mario and the program for not having illegal boosters. I dont want the program or staff to have anything to do with that.
Respect your opinion but if we don’t we will continue to be out recruited by the SEC, and they will continue to come down to SFLA and take any big time recruit here every year, like has been going on for decades. We’ll never become relevant again.

Even harder to become relevant when the NCAA slams us with major sanctions. The unevenness of NCAA enforcement towards us vs. other programs is a very real thing.

This looks like it’s going to be an ugly, ugly whiff.

How can this kid see what Kam and Williams are doing here and think FSU is a better fit?

I guess the NIL game really has passed us by.
Kids these days don't think about how the team they're going to will fit their stlye of play. They think how much $ will you give me and how many followers do I have.
