This is really only a source of confusion in the Midwest. Same thing goes for using the initials UM. Midwesterners assume Michigan or Minnesota, not Miami. It's really just s regional thing. Nothing to worry about.

I can't believe people would actually wonder which Miami when you say "Miami". Good God Almighty. They must be the same people that can't think of a single country that begins with the letter U. There is Miami and then there is Miami (OH). End of story.

If there is even one person living in the United States of America that can't think of a single country that begins with the letter U, civilization is completely ****ed.

Civilization is already ****ed, and it has nothing to do with knowing what countries exist.

In the Midwest they do, simply due to geography and the preponderance of MU graduates. There is also some of their grads in the East Coast. Miami U was featured in a book which named schools as "Public Ivies" over 30 years ago and they have tried to ride that ever since. They even tried a prestige ploy where they charged Ohio resident students the higher out of state rate and then reduced by half, calling it an "Ohio Opportunity Scholarship." The university itself is nowhere near the Top 50, lets in about 70% who apply and their accepted student stats are significantly weaker than The []_[]'s. Up here, people think Miami is a public school, is located in a bad area (Yes, even when you tell them its in Coral Gables where LeBron has a house) and is not as good. It's pretty eye-opening to them when they read the rankings, stats, and see images of the campus.
