You only get so many chances

Next years schedule is a tough one. Honestly a 10-2 record would probably have kept us in with ease regardless of where the losses were

(not in order)
@ SMU
@ VT
@ Pitt
@ FSU
Vs UF
Vs ND
Vs Syracuse
Vs Louisville

Nc state, Stanford at home to round out ACC play + USF/Bethune cookman.

Mario went 7-6 in 2023 and brought in a top 7 class portal/HS combined per 247

Let’s see what he can do after 10-2
We gotta see what he can do next year, but I will say there's some caveats in the schedule that we're supposed to pan out this year but didn't.

-SMU is going to be good, but they do lose some solid guys.
-VT was supposed to be good but ended up sucking. That would've been a ranked win for us if they didn't **** the bed. There's no reason to think Pry is going to figure it out.
-FSU was supposed to be good but ended up being all-time terrible. They'll be better next year but they have a huge hole to climb out of.
-UF will probably be better next year; BUT Lagway gets a lot of hype that isn't warranted. His stats aren't impressive at all. 2021 TVD blows him out of the water, and we saw what happened after. Also, Billy is still Billy. Mario coached circles around him.
-Louisville was supposed to be better than they were; they also lose a good amount of guys.
-ND is going to be a tough tough game to start the year. We're going to be home underdogs, but they do lose some key pieces, like Riley Leonard.
-Syracuse losses a ton; not going to be like the team they have this year.
-NC State lost Concepcion and is probably losing Bailey too. They're not going to be good.
-Stanford was terrible and will be next year in all likelihood.
-USF is going to get raided in the portal.

This isn't to say we will be better, or that my read on these teams will completely pan out. Just that there's a lot of variables in the air and we really wont have an idea of anything next year until spring ball starts.

I’ve stood in the paint on many group chats, and this forum, sticking up for Mario. I’ve wanted him to be involved with this program in some capacity, including HC when Richt was hired and then Manny, since he was fired from FIU. It is well known he required many things before saying yes to the job offer to come back. The buy in from the school to increase the budget, his salary, improvement in facilities, game day atmosphere and the list goes on. He has now shown that he can’t beat inferior talent when it matters most, despite having the significantly better roster and greater resources. Recruiting just inside the top 10 may not be enough. He recruited a Heisman finalist and the best QB in the country with the #1 offense in the country and it made no difference. No trip to Charlotte.

We all want him to right the ship. But the confidence that he’s the one to do it has significantly plummeted.
Like Mario, but he has missed on all of his coordinators, jury out on Dawson.

Harbaugh at Michigan went and got a highly thought of assistant from the Pro's, I think a Raven's assistant. His defense was improved overnight. Part of the problem with this defense is, when you lose confidence in what your DC is doing, everyone starts free lancing. Our players can't be this bad, they get worst, as they get more experience.
This is the path I hope Mario takes. If he wants this program to be serious he needs to hire a serious DC.

One thing Cristobal has showed is he’s willing to improve on an aspect that was detrimental the previous year every season since he’s been here. I expect The same with the defense

Saw a ****** Gaddis offense. Got Shannon Dawson
Saw a ****** tvd got cam ward
Saw a ****** oline, built a really good one
Upgraded talent at the skill positions offensively and have recruited well at most positions.

Let’s see what’s in store for 2025. Yes this season we did make good progress but still there is more work to be done and everyone knows that. Guidrys sh^tty defense really wasted a generational qb

We need changes on defense asap however, out of 7 of the 9 acc teams we played, we got significantly outschmemed excluding fsu and wake. Guidry is in over his head, need a proven hire now that can get his guys motivated and not look so confused all the time
Can we get a special teams coach, that unit was really bad, outside of our kicker. Missing the days of Tremain Mack. We are supposed to have burners in Joseph, and Johnson, I don't see it. Smith last year was explosive, his run against Clemson was elite.

1. If Mario is the CEO/Program builder many claim he is then next year there shouldn’t be a dropoff, you can’t win less than 10 games in year 4, sorry zero excuses

2. Can’t blame money, see point 1. He was brought in to the build the program up and bring an influx of cash with the boosters

3. The schedule really isn’t that much more difficult. Basically the same schedule as this year with ND added who will also be losing a lot of production, and we only have 4 road games all year, once again zero excuses

4. For the people comparing us to FSU, completely different scenarios. We have a solid HS class base with a good offensive line, majority of FSU woes come from a putrid offensive line

5. Zero excuses for Mario, TrumpyCane expected 10 wins this year, yes expectations were different after going 8-0 but he got there so not going to crap on him anymore then already has been but if we win 7/8 games next year then all bets are off, zero and absolutely zero excuses in year 4

Just got to weed out some of the bad portal takes like Sam brown(we had enough talent on the roster to provide his production efforts) wether that had been Horton or the freshman receivers(need to develop these guys as well as the young dlineman)

Unless they are quality transfers we shouldn’t look their way, enough of the dyoni hill, savion Riley etc types.

However they did hit big on most of the transfers last cycle
At this point, I don't know if it's the players, or the coaching they are receiving. Again, I see a Van Dyke stepping in for King, and just lights it up, our coaches take over, and the kid looks like he is lost.

It is year 3 and we have virtually zero talent on the defensive side of the ball. That’s wholly unacceptable regardless of the scheme and coordinator.
Roberts d lineman transfer to SMU, becomes a key cog there, here no one knew he existed here. Coaching or players?

Guidry didn’t adjust one time when Cuse was abusing Miami in man coverage. Didn’t roll the safeties or anything. That alone should have been a fireable offense. But the defense looks completely unprepared and makes me wonder do they even practice. That’s how bad the defense looks
See Pitt film, copy Pitt film. How about putting our best pass rusher, in coverage, beautiful.

I don't have a major problem with the call to kick the FG.

We needed two scores to win and 4th & 9 is low probability.

The game was lost when we didn't run it every play at the goaline until we scored a TD.

We weren't stopping them anyway. We could have stopped runs on 1st and 2nd down and the game would have come down to our **** back 7 stopping a 3rd & 5 pass play (10% chance at best).
Thought we lost in the second quarter, we are rolling with Martinez, and Fletcher, yet we waste two series with Lyles, go figure.

This one hurts deep in the soul. We had a chance for a special season and blew it. Every November feels the same for the past 20 years.

I'll dig deeper on rewatch, but my big picture view is this: Miami fell to its true level. We won games we could've lost, and we lost games we could've won. At the end, we were who we were all year.

We have a national championship offense. We have a bad defense. And we lack discipline overall. We came into this game ranked 120th in penalty yards per game. With the season on the line, we made two of the most immature penalties in team history. That was not a fluke.

Add it all up, and you get 10-2. Do I expect major defensive staff changes? Yes. But that isn't the only area we need to improve.

Mario ultimately owns all of it. He missed a rare opportunity. Now, the ownership cuts both ways- you can't blame him for the defensive misses and then ignore the strength of the offense. We were blessed to have Cam Ward, but he also landed Cam Ward and built his supporting cast. The question now becomes whether we can improve elsewhere enough to compensate for the loss of such a unique and special player.

This season will be remembered one of two ways: the beginning of something sustainable, or a fun, ultimately disappointing fluke like 2017. For true progress, this team needs to remake its defensive identity. You can fire coaches and recruit better DBs. But when you get bowled over by an Arena League running back with the season on the line, that's a cultural issue. When you look confused all year, it's deeper than talent. We had four NFL players in the 2022 secondary, and we looked just as lost as we did this year.

Was there progress? Of course. Should anyone expect us to build on that progress? That's a hard sell. The fanbase has every reason to be cynical. But none of us are going anywhere, so let's hope the build continues and we have enough material to tell lies this summer.

I’m disappointed with Mario. I’m full of doubts now. He makes such bad game day decisions that’s just beyond dumb. Please fire your DC already and this time don’t take eternity to hire a new one

Lashlee doing more with less. He’s a better coach overall compared with Mario. What he has done with his transfers, especially Brashard at running back (could’ve saved that Martinez $$ as much as I love Martinez) and elsewhere on the roster.

Mario is getting everything he wants and still can’t succeed here.

Mario could only win 5 games with Manny’s players where any other competent coach would’ve won 7 games while still being able to reconstruct the team.

In today’s college football, what you need is a prolific offense and a competent defense.

Mario has, in his 3 years, had a debacle of an offense and then a debacle of a defense getting something wrong each and every season.

Kiffin, Lashlee, Fickle,….. ****, even Fran Brown don’t need everything to be perfect to win and turn programs around.

Schuman at Oregon has taken Oregon to heights Mario only ever dreamed off.

Mario is just not a good coach. We are stuck with him. To me, he gets until year 5 and then you really have to reevaluate the situation. Miami is not going to fire him anytime in the next 2 season. He will get to the end of year 5 and then if everything is the same or nearly the same, you have to make a decision.

The amount of money and resources he has received for a 22-15 record at Miami, 84-75 is pathetic!!

Lashlee is 29-10 overall.

My realistic proposal: 2 year leash and then cut bait.
exactly we have Brashard, yet we start Chaney, Parrish, and whoever over him, guy was underutilized

We don't need to find another Ward if the defense gets fixed.

Just sayin.
Exactly! i don’t get what’s so hard to understand. The talent we had on D on paper wasn’t great but it was enough to win THIS year but the scheme & coaching to fit said talent on D was absolutely TERRIBLE , Never seen a worst defense fielded at Miami n we still won 10 games.

Our CB's were getting killed in press-man coverage. Porter, Brown and OJ showed poor press technique. Retreated, didn't stay in front of the WR's release, got shook at the line, didn't get their hands involved... just all around bad CB play. I know everybody's in the mood to bag on the coaches or the play calls but sometimes it is the kids.
CB is the toughest position on the football field (athletically) and some losses are to be expected... but they were getting beat like a drum. There's only so much a DC can do about that...especially if the offense's formation dictates 1-on-1 coverage outside.

Need an influx of DB talent ASAP.
we were actually in press; we didn't even lay a glove on any of their receivers. Our Technique=, free release, watch WR catch ball, and then tried to wrestle them to the ground. I remember when we played Wisconsin in the Orange Bowl, Wisconsin DB's were literally mugging our receivers at the line of scrimmage, and got called one time for holding.

Guidry In most of the interviews doesn’t even know his own players names. It’s a small thing but when you say a persons name out loud to them or about the it make them think you at least give a **** about them. You aren’t going to run through a wall for a guy who says hey 96 get over here and you’re a starter.
