Brock was what he was. At UF he played in a qb friendly offense that used plenty of the shotgun. He was just feast or famine and that’s why he lost out to Rex. Who was a much better player. The whole legend of him in shotgun has grown to legendary status lol.

It’s what he did to the gator when we played them. That’s the thing people remember. That and he was like a 99.9 something 5 star out of high school when the gator signed him.

For a WR transfer, I much rather get a guy who has dominated at a lower school than a guy who hasn't done anything at all after 3 years at an SEC school. Even if a little less athletic. (not talking about this D2 guy specifically, just in general).

He was misused at UiF. He fills a role/need with us.

No shame in losing Rex at Florida. He was really good. In HS, Brock played in a system closer to Florida’s, if I’m not mistaken. Which he was more comfortable with.

But they forget he dug us into that deep hole with some epic boneheaded plays. They built that big lead with god awful qb play. Ingle Martin who transferred to Furman and a true Fr Chris Leak splitting snaps.

Yeah beacuse believe me nobody liked him when he was 1 hopping passes vs Tennessee or getting picked out of the shotgun in that game.

Brock had one legendary game (half, really) against the gator and people have some bizarre memory like he was a great player.

Now, don’t get me wrong. That night in the OB was one of the best nights of my life, bar none. That place was an absolute insane asylum in the 2nd half that night. I will never forget the fun I had in the old girl for about an hour and a half as we came back.

But the rest of that season he was flat out terrible. He had a much better year in 2004 but he still wasn’t very good. He just didn’t turn the ball over as much. But for the vast majority of his tenure here, he stunk.

What QB, outside of Dorsey, didn’t “stink” in that system?

12 Td 17 Int. Let me repeat that 12 Td and 17 int. Yet we still went 10-2, which is one of the most amazing things I’ve seen in football. I believe the D gave up 8.8 points per game. The VT game he went ham throwing int’s and pick sixes , it scarred me for life.

I think it was about more than "just" the shotgun, it was the whole rhythm of the offense. Brock needed "snap-look-throw" over and over again, without giving the defense a chance to adjust. I'm not saying I'd ever put him in the Hurricanes all-time-greats list, but he was much more fluid in his last year.

That being around the last time we were excited about football other than a few moments of 2017 also leads to an inflated positivity…

So besides the 2 time Heisman finalist and 34 games in a row winner?

I’m not gonna sit here and say Coker was some great coach but Dorsey, with average physical tools, absolutely thrived surrounded by one of the best collections of talent ever. The year after he left, the QB who replaced him was surrounded by very similar talent, and sucked ***. Simple facts.

And the next week vs Tennessee wasn’t much better!

They beat us, at home, gaining 170 yards of offense. That’s almost impossible.
