Xavier Lucas wants to be in the portal but Luke Fickell pays to watch men ramrod his wife

What is the NCAA's justification for not stepping in? Are they dragging their feet on purpose? They should've forced Wisconsin to put his name in the portal weeks ago. Something just doesn't pass the smell test.

That's been my point for the past 2 weeks. Miami administration had more than enough time to review his HS transcripts and admit him based off those alone. NIL could cover the tuition until he wins in court. Just frickin leave.

May be there is some procedural reason he has to go through the portal and canā€™t unenroll from Wisky then re-enroll at UM.

heitner said the ncaa didn't have the power to compel Wisconsin to act - they could just punish Wisconsin for not doing so

kinda seems like the same, but if Wisconsin has made a decision to accept the slap on the wrist that's coming, then there's not really much they can do

There are some pieces of the puzzle missing, at least for me:

1. No school, including UW can enter into a financial arrangement with players until July 2025. It should therefore be the case that UW has no currently binding agreement with Lucas that they can rely on to deny him portal rights.

2. UW's NIL collective apparently has entered into a financial agreement with Lucas. UW is barred from and cannot be party to this financial agreement as I understand the rules.

3. Yet somehow UW is attempting to enforce their NIL collective's financial agreement against Lucas even though UW cannot legally be a party to that agreement.

Something's missing here.

The whole thing is nuts. Wisconsin is setting a dangerous precedent. If the NCAA can't do anything except give them a slap on the wrist after the fact, other schools will do it too.

Lucas and Poyser at Safety with Patterson serving as a Rover/Striker role sounds good to me. And Dylan Day as the 4th safety up.

Only real question is nickel, and whether they plan on Brantley playing there or something... Oh, Brantley, and OConnor is nice though. And if Damari ends up actually being good even better.
Yes agreed 1000% ZPatterson at stricken / linebacker would be his money position like a Buddha backer, Deshaun Elliot type of roll with his instincts

Thank you Coach seen alot of people saying Damari. Any chance they move 2 people to safety? I think we may need another safety either portal or moving someone. Whats your opinion on the moves we've made so far? I cant wait for the DC hire and spring ball to see how things play out! Thank u appreciate ya hope you and your fam had a good holidays my boy
Thanks brother.
Last I heard, they wanted Damari at Nickel but he doesn't want to play it.

Considering the firing of guidry, we'll have to see where the new DC envisions these kids.

is that a move he'll embrace? can he excel there? is he a box guy or free?
He played Safety for me. That's how he blew up. Had 5 picks as a 10th grader in one of the top secondaries in the country.

If you notice, he played down low, up-top, man, zone, etc.
And now he's about 6'2" close to 200lbs.

I think he's a Safety but when I joined the staff at Dillard, our co-DC and DB coach liked him at CB. The rest is history.

Not saying they're wrong, or I'm right, but FOR ME it would be great to have a large Safety who has SOME of the athleticism/skill of a Corner.

With a kid like that, you can do a lot more with them... hence the reason I had him playing all over the field.
When you put him at CB it kinda limits him IMO.

Fine.

Miami then says, ā€œAs an institution we will pay $3M for a proven wide receiver.ā€ Not the Collective, the school itself. Cristobal, the AD, the professors, and the President.

The NCAA reacts in horror and slaps Miami with a ten scholarship per year reduction.

Cristobal laughs and says, ā€œThatā€™s fine. Now try to enforce it.ā€

Badically, if the NCAA cannot enforce anything, if itā€™s all voluntary, its utility is entirely voluntary. It should cease to exist.

Then we can have a true Wild West with $200M payrolls, 500 man rosters, and players spending twenty years in college. And in season transfers.

Thank you Fickell for speeding the process along.

Keep waiting for the day I look at this thread and something's actually happened. Ya know, some movement..
