You could use the phrase, "It's not personal, it's business", but for these collectives it's only personal. Nobody is making money off these guys, there's no ROI, they're sacrificing their own money out of pure fandom. Of course these guys are going to get butthurt more than they should.

You have a bunch of rich people entering into a contract with someone where one person gets monetary gain, and treats it as a business decision, and the other side wants something intangible. It's a terrible setup.

If they gave Lucas some sort of signing bonus and didnt bake in a clawback or pro-rating (if you're not residing in Madison on Feb 1st and performing NIL duties, you must return 100% of the signing bonus) then theyre idiots. A signing bonus at a typical company has that built in.

I get why theyre mad, but assuming the situation is something like that (where they cut a large check without protecting themselves), the real problem is that they have idiots drafting contracts. If theyre accusing Lucas of stealing money, that means the collective cut him a check. Whether or not he has to repay ia a contractual issue at this point. No "stealing" going on. If he owes money back, theyll sue and he'll have to pay it. If he is legally entitled to keep it because they wrote a ****** contract, theyll feel ***** and moan and he'll still leave with the money they gave him.

P.S Ruiz literally had this type of language in the Rashada contract like someone mentioned before.

1) The school and the collective are supposed to be separate
2) The school is obligated to file the paperwork

They gloss over ALL of that. It's all, "he's not loyal...there's a bigger story...he's taking money..." Like, do you not get what the actions of Wisconsin are implicating them in? This goes beyond Lucas at this point. They are completely oblivious to that.

Well the thing is that you can make this up and he has and his story is a common one. CFB fans lose their minds when it comes to their program and will convince themselves of anything. PSU fans convinced themselves that somehow JoePa was the good guy after everything that happened and it was everyone else that was the problem.
