Xavier Lucas in the portal

I’m still trying to figure out why he can’t just enroll in Miami. Is this a scholarship issue? Cant he just go to the registrars office and say he doesn’t want to enroll and rescind his scholarship or something? It’s weird.
How can I want to leave my job and my boss not let me?
MaThis be I’ve been out of school too long or don’t know the law governing student athletes
Someone else opined that the school could withhold his transcripts or something like that.

If Wisconsin can prevent his name from going in to the Portal, they can **** sure withhold his transcripts.

And why do people just think kids can show up at a university and enroll? Like it's a community college or something?

The kid has to enroll and be admitted. And YES, there are expedited timeframes for athletes.

But you got people out here acting like Miami can just let Xavier Lucas enroll without any grades or transcripts or an application. And that all of this could happen after January 22 if Joe Echevarria just "overrides" things.

Universities don't work that way.

I don't even think they believe that.

They apparently think that stalling will either delay Xavier Lucas enrolling anywhere in January and/or result in some ridiculous payoff to Wisconsin "on principle".

Nobody has cited any amount that was paid to Xavier Lucas in December. Nobody has provided a contractual repayment schedule that obligates Xavier Lucas to return any money to Wisconsin. Nobody has provided a contractual "actual" or "liquidated" or "punitive" damages clause that would force Xavier Lucas to pay "merely for breaking the contract".

So, we are apparently at a ridiculous impasse. Darren Heitner claims that the NCAA cannot "compel" Wisconsin to process the Portal paperwork Xavier Lucas submitted, but can only "punish" Wisconsin for failing to do so. Which is insane.

The world would have you believe that Wisconsin has stumbled upon a foolproof way to prevent players from transferring. Just, you know, DON'T process their Portal paperwork. Sure.

I think a court will rule very differently.

And it won't take long. There are no factual issues of dispute. Only irrelevant and distracting issues that Wisconsin is attempting to inject into the discussion.
If/when Lucas sues ,cause this looks like it’s where this is headed, can’t he sue foe for attorney fees as well as damages starting 48 hours after he put the papers in when it should have been filed by Wisconsin?
If so this should alleviate any worry regarding how expensive lawyer fees will be as this progresses right?

How far could Wisconsin take this?

Could it be that the ignore any NCAA ruling on the case?

Could they ignore a court judgment in the case and refuse to either pay Lucas damages and still withhold the transcripts?

He can. Although I said this before, I don't expect a lot of fees here. The question is fairly straightforward. Why has Wisconsin not put his name in the Portal when there are no STATED EXCEPTIONS for why they could refuse to do so.

If they want to sue him on the contract, feel free. If they want to file tampering charges, feel free.

But the issue here is a simple one. Names must be processed and submitted to the Portal database within 48 hours. No exceptions.

The NCAA always follows court rulings, at least in the last few years of losing EVERY CASE FILED AGAINST THE NCAA.

I wonder what is being said in Wisconsins locker room

Didn’t someone sure and win tbe juco battle in court

Yes, though it is only a preliminary injunction and not a final verdict. And even though the NCAA disagreed with the outcome, they decided to follow the injunction and apply it to all players, not just the ones involved in that lawsuit.

Could Miami use his HS transcript?

luke gets qb1 reps all spring, emory transfers, we rolll with beck this year and luke getting some reps in garbage time

2026 is luke's show

a few weeks ago we said it's results-based business - Mario would be crucified for his handling of QB situation or praised - welp, looks like he handled it perfectly at this point in my opinion
Better for us if Emory "Wins" the spring competition and sticks around another year then he can transfer next season.

I have totally forgotten about this guy. What the f happen to David Singer? Wow, this guy was everywhere on local commercials.
I saw him a couple of years ago. Sat next to him at a charity event. Super nice guy. Definitely up there in years though (as if you couldn’t tell by the graphics or lack of area codes in the commercial).
