I’ve seen on3 and 247 saying it was mutualOther sites saying he was dismissed from the team.
A source close to Cook told 247Sports that he's taking it slowly right now and treating this as an opportunity to find the best spot to get to the league. It was mentioned that logos won't play as big of a role as Cook will be looking into depth charts, offensive scheme and NFL development with a much closer lens. The same source told us that while he may have an idea of what schools can be in play, he wants to see what comes once his name is active in the portal. The spot where he can put up the most production will be high on his list.
We've checked around with several sources, and we're told a large group of schools would be interested. Georgia, Baylor, Ole Miss, SMU, Oregon, Texas A&M, Florida, Miami, Nebraska, South Carolina and Illinois were a few of the names we heard. Michigan finished inside Cook's top group in high school and could be a team to watch as well. While SMU has been a hot portal destination for players from the area, we're told that Cook would likely look to get outside of Dallas. Of the schools mentioned, we're told Ole Miss and Oregon are two schools to watch if they engage.
Need a WR1 for next year. Not sure cook is the guy but he’ll be needed.
RRJ’s development has been odd- expected so much out of him. I know people love Carr/trader but I’m not sold on Carr yet. Beyond that, are brown and George coming back? I can see George exploring the portal.
We lost a lot of bodies so we’ll need a couple WR1/WR2 types.
Neither Brown nor George has eligibility
I sure hope Horton stays. WR is all of a sudden a shaky position. We'll lose 3 starter types (Brown, JG, X) and a depth guy like Kirk. RRJ has been underwhelming (where is the speed?) and Trader/Carr need S&C to be impactful, imo. That leaves some serious holes at that position. Need 2 guys from the portal and need to get a stud from HS (which we apparenlty won't).
Two buys is a stretch. We have a lot of young talent on this team. Robinson, Car, Trader , Ray Ray, and a great 2025 class so far. We need to get to a point where we shouldn't be relying a lot on the portalI sure hope Horton stays. WR is all of a sudden a shaky position. It’s hard to see the field when you have the best slot receiver in the country, and statistically the best WR in school history starting infront of him. RRJ is strictly a slot guy, so obviously he’s not going to get snaps. Also take a look at a school like OSU. They lose multiple first nfl guys every year at WR, do they grab guys in the portal every year? No. If we’re looking to add 2-3 guys at wr, what does that tell you about Beards ability to develop talent?RRJ hasn't sniffed the field this year and looks underwhelming on PRs AND he's going into his 3rd year. Carr and Trader need another year of S&C probably. Carr hasn't sniffed the field and trader barely has. I know we all love practice reports and all but reality is reality. Besides, if we take 2-3 guys in the portal this year, you'll see what the coaches expectations are of our current stock of wRs
