Let's say we:
Get rid of him and we find success. Perfect.
Get rid of him and continue to fail. The Mariobros will be even more insufferable.
Keep him and find success. Great for all fans. The Mariobros will be even more insufferable.
Keep him and continue to fail. It takes time, NIL, Orange Bowl curse, not enough fan support. The Mariobros will be even more insufferable.

I look at it like this … it’s hard to find a coach that will care more about the U than someone like Mario ! It’s more than a Job for him. Mario is more of a general manager than a head coach cause what can he really coach anyone on ? But would I change him?? … No, cause he is atleast giving max effort with changes to make us great again.

Death. Taxes. And insufferable Mariobros

With no downside, I was leaning yes, but the fact is there is no magic formula to hiring a successful coach at Miami. Al Golden was not a "Miami Bro" and neither was Coker before becoming OC.

We have hired 2 alumni with HC experience at Power 5 schools (Richt and Cristobal) and they only achieved 1 double digit season each.

Ask USC and LSU how they did plucking from National Contenders.

Ask OU how they did plucking the top DC interested in the job.

Ask UNC and aTm how they did with Head Coaches with National Titles.

Ohio State and Notre Dame are having their time in the sun with promoted coordinators. Something we only saw success with after momentum with Butch-> Coker.

Before you start throwing big names around, keep in mind those big names come with BIG TIME buyouts. Kiffin could show up and go winless for 5 straight years just begging to be fired but the clause he signs before moving to Coral Gables will be astronomical.

So with this logic, has he shown great GM skills? I do agree we would be hard pressed to find anyone else as dedicated as he is to UM. Giving max effort without results still means you’re fired in other lines of work though.

This is tough because the main reason I’ve mostly supported Mario is because I knew our BOT wasn’t going to spend all this money with another head coach. If dealing with Mario’s coaching meant we’d spend money on football like a real program, I’d deal with it. If you’re saying we will continue to spend money, we could probably do better.

That said, I don’t trust the University to hire someone good so Mario is probably better than most others we’d get stuck with.

If I knew that we were getting a legitimate coach in his place, sure, but as history has shown, we never do. We'll either get some retread, or a guy who hasn't proven anything. At least now we have a guy who is doing pretty well recruiting. We can't even guarantee that on the next hire.

does the next coach get the same financial resources as mario?
I find it hard to believe that people who care enough about the school to put up millions would suddenly back completely out. If Mario continues to underwhelm, I can see it, but a new coach brings new optimism. That assumes it's a worthwhile coach, not a lazy hire.

Winning usually cures all, but when the winning feels bad where you turn?

I would say yes .. if a GM job is predicated on getting talent establishing a standard, then Mario has done well at that.
The man’s down fall is that he has never been a coordinator on either side of the ball.

Move on from him in favor of who, exactly? Who are we going to get that's any better?

No one can ever answer this question. Unless we’re going to offer someone like Urban or another elite coach $20M/year or something crazy we’d have to rely on another risky “up and comer” might work, might be a disaster. People think this is a video game and you can just swap players and coaches whenever you want. In real life, those better players and coaches have to want to come to UM.

This the most promising program outlook has been in decade and you wanna get rid of the coach SMH
24 years since we won anything and this year wasn't perfect but it was as fun as i can remember since along with that Richt year. ....but our fans perpetually think if the job is open we''ll get Saban, Andy Reid or someone else interested...despite the past.

I’d take what we have over the mystery box. I’m a vacuum, things are better than they’ve been. The program is more stable and we’re more relevant. But it feels bad. If you’ve watched the game it’s clear he is now a strong tactical coach, our players don’t learn, and we have no discipline. But those things have been true of other coaches too and we were worse. I’ll take the devil I know.
