Not being able to pull Thomas shows you where our program is now & where we need to be.

(thats if we don't get him)

You can't assign one recruit to gauge our program on.

What does going out and pulling Beau Sandland say about where we are?

How about stealing AQM?

Works both ways.

Disagree , until we can cherry pick the best talent from our backyard we aren't where we need to be .

Until we are competing for National Championships we aren't where we need to be.

We won't get there until we make sure guys like Thomas don't slip away .

Did Artie Burns slip away? Did Deon Bush? Did Duke? If they sign on Wednesday, will Coley and Collins have slipped away? Perryman?

People need to stop boiling the entire program down to Matthew Thomas, because it does three things when you do it:

1) You make it seem like a National Championship is in the bag or in the future when he signs

2) You believe on signing day that he will be all-world when there exist a possibility that he doesn't pan out

3) You imply that winning without him is impossible or the percentages go way down

He's an awesome prospect. Phenomenal potential, but until we see it on Saturday's, that's all he is.

We closing strong as it gets (7 of 8 at least)

Bostwick, Thomas, Bryant, Coley, Collins, Robinson, Edwards and Robin of Lockley

Let's not forget about the FUCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKING NCAA and MEDIA BS that makes it hard to overcome in recruiting.

There has always been kids from S FL that dont want to go to Miami and get away for one reason or another. That will always be the case.

I want thomas as much as anyone but to say he is make or break is dumb as ****. we have good LBs already. I would say bryant is bigger for this class

exactly

Aren't both of those guys examples of if there were not any grade issues, they'd more than likely be somewhere else?

That's of absolutely NO consequence. Sandland could have gone to 'SC or any other program besides the SEC. He didn't and he chose Miami. AQM could have gone anywhere in the country besides Notre Dame and he didn't, he went to Miami. Don't try to diminish those pulls

So what were you saying last year when the staff pulled Howard and Mccord out of no where.

ok cool lets forget that a player like Thomas who was suppose to be the crown jewel of our recruiting class who is also in our city from a school we have communication with we can't pull. (against assuming he doesn't come)

We were getting predictions of 80% to Miami, and now we may not get him? Doesn't mean Golden messed up.

let me rephrase it.. if LCU, Florida, FSU, Alabama, USC were here in Miami, BIG 6 would be going to one of those schools.

(again, this is assuming he is not coming to miami)

Diddnt LSU lose out on a top safety last year to bama from LA, Bama lost out on Liner, every school loses a big recruit. If Thomas doesnt want to be a cane its not the staffs fault.

Getting Keef in addition to keeping both Collins and Coley would make it hurt less for sure but there would still be a pall cast over NSD due to no 6. I couldn't care less about Kirk at this point.

The discussion was "where we need to be." IMO, you have to take that into consideration.

We've beaten out Florida, Alabama, and USC for prospects, how is that not where we need to be? We're coming off of a Top 10 class and if those who told the coaches they are coming come, the only schools who will have more of the Top 150 prospects, are Ohio State, Notre Dame, Michigan, USC, Florida, and Alabama.

have we beaten USC, Bama etc out of a TOP prospect from that area? as in did we go in to Bamas back yard and plucked their TOP prospect? no we haven't!

again, if we want to get back to a top 5 team year after year, we need to close every year in the top 10 and get freak talents like Big6 FROM our back yard

WTF are you talking about? Where did you come up with these arbitrary recruiting rules? Once again, we will have 7 or 8 of the Top 150 prospects in the country come signing day. Only SIX OTHER SCHOOLS HAVE MORE.

We have gotten freak talents from our backyard. You just choose to ignore them once they commit and aren't big drama on NSD. Carter, Burns, Collins and Coley are College Award winner level talents. That's why LSU, Bama, Florida, and Florida State are after them all. Burns is just as good as Matthew Thomas but for some reason, people around these parts ignore it.

Going into the state of Alabama and getting a top prospect is 1000 times different than a team coming to South Florida to get a recruit. It is MUCH more difficult to pull a recruit from Alabama. The kids in Alabama are fanatical Alabama or Auburn fans which I learned quickly when I moved here. The mentality of these recruits is totally different than most South Florida recruits.

guys we were 7-5 last year. we are not there yet. we will continue to lose guys like Cooper, Lemonier, etc until we start winning again... stop living like its 10 years ago.

we use to be a top 5 recruiting class every year and finish with at most 2-3 losses and that was considered horrible. You don't get up there with being "happy" when you miss out you top target that is just around the corner.

so will i be happy? no , are we moving forward or back? forward. Will AG get us there? yes

i agree... i just asked the original question. i would not be happy with those 5 guys. we need bostwick or thomas and then i would be happy.
