if you had your choice, would you prefer to have the NCAA hammer come down today, or have the cumguzzlers wait until after NLOI Day?

It sure feels like the proverbial elephant in the room with several of the recruits, and even with the risk of losing others already on the hook if we were to get slammed, I would love to tear off this stinky, dirty puss-stained band aid already.

Even if it's worse than we hoped or thought, at least kids would know what they're getting into for the next four or five years or their lives (seven or eight, if you're Robert Marve).

I'm sure it's been discussed, but I've been AWOL for a while, and am interested to know how others feel about it.

At this point, after Signing Day. People always overreact initially. Hopefully, it drops sometime in March and Golden has close to a whole year to do damage control.

I would like to know now. Alot of programs are using it and stretching past anything we would recieve. If it came out today, it would show that all these schools saying were getting the death penalty are full of ****. Let the kids know what they are headed into, let Golden smooth it over, and rake in these recruits.

Not really sure. If it's severe, after signing day. If we skate, yesterday.

Naturally, we'd all make that choice. But with the qualifier "without knowing anything more than we do now," which choice do you make?

If we skate (relatively speaking), do you think we pull some decommits back in, and if we get spanked, do we lose even more commits and hopefuls?

Might as well happen now. Even after signing, signees can get out of their LOI as Seantrel did with USC.

I don't think it's really affecting anyone who wants to be here. Does it give us someone we weren't already getting?
It's quiet and right now, I'd rather it come out after.

At this point, I'd prefer it to come out after signing day.

Regardless of the severity of the sanctions, Golden and co. would have to use most of their time/resources putting out fires, keeping things together.

We'll need the notice then a chance to argue our case before the punishing body of the NCAA before they decide what the penalties will be. Would we know what the actual penalties will be settled on even if we get notice today which would be about NLOI day-30 days?

In any event, I say let's get it post-NLOI day and know our penalties before the fall so we can recruit with this known and know whether we can go to a bowl game or not next season.

I'd probably go with after. Golden's gotten us this far with not knowing our fate. I think we could still hold on to our big targets selling them on it wont be that bad. And like '77 said, he'd have almost a full year to downplay whatever we got hit with to the 2014 class.

I hadn't thought of it that way. I actually thought they were doing a lot of that now, and with the certainty of knowing what to expect in the future, at least they would be able to make commitments to kids based on that certainty, rather than speculation. Certainty is the one thing our rivals can offer that we can't.

All this.

In my ridiculous hypothetical, it'd already be adjudicated, sentenced, and all appeals exhausted - today. Al would have one month to work his magic.

Under that specific scenario, I'd take the risk, and go with now, and not after.

I like this approach. It seems our staff is doing a solid job in downplaying the sanctions and easing recruits concerns. It helped that we self-imposed this year as well. I think that the staff is finding success in selling to these kids that the worst is behind us.

Yup. Momentum, momentum, momentum.

If Muhammed does what we think he is going to do on Saturday, that will infuse some serious energy into the program and will be perfect timing with the big visit weekends coming up.

You're right, to some extent they are. I was also thinking along the lines of press conferences, media interviews, and all that non-sense taking up Golden's time...

And good to see you back

The correct answer is after and isn't even close. If its after then you have an entire year to sell the next class. If it were to happen right now we'd have to scramble to employ damage control and salvage the class.
